Schizophrenia?

2007-07-25 14:01:23 · answer #1 · answered by Voodoid 7 · 1 2

You are right. It makes no sense. I wish I could give a concrete answer that would wow your intellect. Wisdom isn't the answer, though.

History confirms the incident occurred. Ancient texts that are not connected with scripture confirm that Jesus was on the earth, that he did die from crucifixion. So, the only two viable options are that he was nuts, or he really was the Son of God. I believe His incredible love for humanity, and his obedience to His Father were his motivation. I am just very grateful that He chose to obey!

The knowledge that he was the Son of God and uniquely qualified to offer a sacrifice that could deliver from sin.

"The greatest love a person can have for his friends is to give his life for them. And you are my friends if you do what I command you." -- John 15:13, 14, TEV

"I am the good shepherd. As the Father knows me and I know the Father, in the same way I know my sheep and they know me. And I am willing to die for them." -- John 10:15, TEV

"Like the Son of Man, who did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life to redeem many people." -- Matthew 20:28, TEV

Such a good question to ask, and I shall attempt to shed some light on Gods glory (if at all possible).

What drove God to send His only begotten son to a sinful race, to bare their burdens and shed his blood at Calvary is nothing short of pure Agape, Perfect Love.

We are to him as lost children, and as we wander in our sinful nature, we tend to try to make our own ways, find our own paths. But as history and present has shown it is a futile endeavor of our own strength.

After His Death, Burial and Resurrection , Jesus appeared to the disciples for the last time, Thomas (the doubter) asked Jesus in John 14: 5&6 ....... "how can we know the way? Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, the life, no man come to the Father but by me."

I can only explain it this way, Jesus said He is the way (greek word Hodos, signifying a the path to a destination), the Truth (greek word Aletheia, denoting a reality clearly before us, extending beyond the mere appearance of truth), and the Life (greek word Zoe, Life as Spirit and Soul not the Physical one we focus so much on)

Jesus Sacrificed his physical body to bear the sins of us upon that cross, to provide us a path to the Father through his blood, thus Only through his saving sacrifice is their access to the Father.

God loves you and me, He loves all of His creations, He wants that relationship with us, and after we chose sin in the garden of Eden, He wanted that relationship back.

As all the parables try to show, He spoke to us in ways that we could tangibly relate to, as we are only human. He showed us the true meaning of Love (Agape) and his earnest wanting of our love through the sacrifice of His son Jesus.

You're asking the wrong question. The bible is not reliable at all. Many events in the bible are contrary to what we know is the truth today; they are impossible. I think that there was a Jesus-like character who lived in the Middle East 2000-ish years ago, but he was nothing like what the bible says he is. The bible has been passed down through more than 2000 years of editing and revising by scribes and scholars. It has also been mistranslated into different languages and back again. It's not a question of "why"; it's "if" he did and said all the things the bible says he did.

Love!
Love for his father and to clear the reproach from his Holy Name and Love for mankind who was thrown into this situation without any opportunity to show which side they would choose if they could have been able to do so in the beginning.
