Does "pray for our president" work if he or she is not a Christian? Why should I pray for our president?

You should pray for everybody who needs help.You don't ask their religion.
And your president needs al the help he can get .Amen

For those of you that said prayer does nothing, yes it does. God answers prayers. He may not answer them in the way we want, but he is all knowing and knows what is best for us. I am living proof that prayer works. I am walking after being paralyzed from my neck down because people in 3 states prayed for me. Yes you should pray for the president no matter what race, or religion he is.

We ARE to pray for our leaders. How do you think the early Christians felt about having to pray for their Roman persecutors? And yet look at what their prayers achieved: The conversion of the Roman Empire within about 300 years!

Why not? If you beleive in the power of prayer it can work for your own good. Pray for your leaders to have wisdom, to follow God's will in making decisions, to follow Christian principles, to not be misled or deceived by those seeking to create problems, etc.
So yes, you would pray for any leader, no matter who they are. Many Christians already pray for Israel and their leaders.
When those prayers are answered and your leaders govern well, doesn't that make your life easier? Better?
It really is for YOUR benefit, as much as theirs...........

We should be praying for all the leaders of our country, no matter who they are, whether you are liberal, conservative, independent, or whatever. We all still live in this country and should want it to only get better.
Acid burn, maybe prayer never worked for you because you don't have the faith. But God always answers my prayers.

Yes. God needs to bless and protect our leaders no matter what they are, especially when they're trying to save our butts.

please only pray for yourself. only a prayer for yourself will be heard.
as for your president? does he really deserve you to pray for him? even if he did, unless he prays for himself, your prayer is useless :P
