I have a friend who got arrested a few years ago but the charges were dropped, and he s always wanted to know what his mug shot looked like. Given he was drunk and all he prob looked pretty funny. So...are they? and if so how can he get a copy of his?

Under the Freedom of Information Act, he can request a copy, but it would depend on the agency that took them as to whether or not he actually receives them.

Some one else asked nearly this identical question a month or so ago. Mug shots are police property, and no, he can not get a copy. But while he is drunk and funny looking, you might can take one of him your self and show it to him when he sobers up. lol.

A newspaper, for example, can request a shot be made public. Generally, they are kept by the police. If it's been a few years, and the charges were dropped, the picture may have been discarded by now.

Generally mug shots are the property of the police department that took them. They may be used for investigations, and can be posted on "Wanted" posters.

No, not unless they've been released to the media for one reason or another...

I think that if you come up with a reason, they'd release it to you, but I don't think they'll just give it to you because you wanted to see it...

i dont think so, only the mug shots beloning to celebrities we see
