30 lbs per month is over the top . . . if you're trying to be healthy the most you're going to lose is 8 per month. Don't rush. Anyway, just avoiding junk food isn't enough to lose weight. If you eat too much of any food, even healthy food (except maybe celery and stuff like that), you will gain weight. Also, exercise is a very difficult way to burn excess calories. An hour of pretty intense exercise will burn about 500 calories for most people, but if you don't watch it you can eat 500 calories in two minutes.

Aim for a number of calories about 12 times the weight you want to weigh (or maybe a slightly higher weight, if you're far from it . . . otherwise you might be tired all the time and not want to exercise). Add to that whatever you burn from exercise (not ordinary activities, but strictly exercise), and subtract 300-500 calories. That will cause an energy deficit and force your body to start losing weight.

Take your time and do it right. Cutting out too many calories will not help you lose weight any faster. Follow my instructions and you should see some progress. Good luck!

Oh yeah, by the way, 174 at 5'7" is heavy. I'm a guy, and 5'7", and I weigh 165. And technically I'm overweight by a few pounds. At times, I've been told that I've got a slight pot belly. So you're definitely too big for ideal health and appearance. I'm not trying to put you down . . . I just don't want other answerers to mislead and flatter you to try to get best answer.

Im am also overweight, and i know how it feels. You should first check your BMI which i also checked for you and you should weigh about 130 pounds. You basically ahve to lose 45 pounds, which is not the easiest thing to do.

First, look up some healthy foods you could eat while dieting. Then, make a schedule for yourself to exercise everyday for at least 1 hour everyday. You can take a walk, do pushups, situps, crunches, squats. Any exercise that is good for the abs to help you lose weight.

In a few weeks you should lose about 5-10 pounds which is a start. If you keep doing exercise and eating right, i guarentee you will lose all the weight you need. But, dont cheat because then your only cheating yourself. Just remember, you can do anything as long as you put your mind to it.

Whatever you do, put lotion with cocoa butter all over your body every day, or else you will get stretch marks, which you don't want because if you lose all the weight, you wont be able to wear bikinis. Just remember that.

Hmm, well after reading some of the suggestions already posted, I would really NOT recomend that you try ANY kind of Diet suppliment. At your age, you're still developing, and suppliments may only hurt you in the long run. Also think about it...if there was some magic pill out there that made everyone beautifull and skinny, the world would be filled with beautiful skinny people and not have suspicious diet infomercials at 2AM!!

If you really want to lose weight, start out by writing down what you eat and just keep a tab on how many calories you take in versus how much you burn. It's suggested that you exercise a minimum of 30 minutes a day, so you could go for a simple walk every day for 30 minutes!

Also look at what types of drinks you consume. Alot of people take in ALOT of empty calories, such as sodas and high sugar juices. Juice is good for you, but just watch how much you drink a day! If you want a sweet drink, try crystal light or even some koolaide.

There is a way to eat what you want and still lose weight, of course you still have to avoide eating McDonalds and Junk, try to cut down sodas to only weekends, or when you go out. But Exercise is the key point! remember, 30 minutes a day can help keep the lbs away..as long as you watch what you eat. But be HEALTHY! It will benifit you so much more in the long run!! Hope that helped and good luck!

First, you can't lose 30 pounds in a month, unless you undergo liposuction or have your leg cut off. Two to three pounds a week tops, so you're looking at about 3 months minimum. Second, get into an aerobics/cardio exercise routine to burn excess calories. Third, go onto a sensible diet.

Consumer Reports recently rated the Volumetrics Eating Plan as the best approach to weight-loss dieting. Simply put, for each food, calculate the caloric density by dividing the number of calories in a serving by the weight of the serving. Then you focus your attention on eating more low-density foods than high-density ones. They fill you up sooner, so your calorie intake drops, and you lose weight. You can continue the plan indefinitely (after you get to your desired weight, just add a few high density foods to maintain it), so this diet has a good chance to keep you at your desired weight once you get there. There is a book available, "The Volumetrics Eating Plan", published this year.

30 pounds in a month is next to impossible..so forget about it. Aim for 5-10 and pace yourself.

1. Exercise every day or at least 6 days a week. It can be as simple as going for a fast walk for 30 minutes a day. Build up to 1 hour.

2. Keep a diary of the food that you eat each week. Be honest in it and record EVERYTHING you eat. After a week or two look back through it. You'll see where you can cut back or change your eating habits.

First...losing 30 lbs in a month is not even remotely healthy. Adjust your diet. You say that you do not eat junk food and drink plenty of water, but you did not say when you eat.

Eating late is just as bad as eating too much. Your body will not digest properly when it is tired. Your body will store this food for energy later.

Eat small meals and drink plenty of water. Walk/ work-out at least 30 minutes a day (Forget then 10-15 minute, or less, BS that some infomercials speak of. You have to reach your target heart rate before your body can burn calories in abundance).

Good Luck!

It isn't healthy to lose weight fast. Try drinking some herbal tea. Herbs help to clean out your system. I'm 13 going on 14 and i tried DetoxaTrim. It helped me a lot. It helps cleanse your body, Boost your metabolism, reduce bloating, and curb your appetite. It doesn't really have any side effects except that when you take it that it causes you not to be hungry. Your body probably has some toxins in it that is causing you not to be able to lose weight. That happens to me all the time. Also exercise every other day. If you are up to it you can exercise everyday. I use a workout video everyday. I do it before i go to sleep so i get tired out. Sometimes i feel like i can do the workout all over again but i get to tired to do it again. And if you lose weight fast it makes it easier to gain back the weight faster. If you lose weight slow it makes weight gain easier to keep off.

Hope I helped!

You are 5'7" at 12!! Holy cow girl I wish I was that tall. I am 5'5" and 32 years old. 174 is not really that bad considering your height. You still have a lot of growing to do. As long as you keep junk food to a minimum and exercise you should lose the "baby fat". 30 lbs is a lot to lose in a short period of time. Please don't let the media obsession with stick figure girls influence you. Most of those girls have to starve to stay like they are and even then they are photo shopped to high heaven. Its all an illusion sweetie. You do not want to set yourself up for an eating disorder. There is no quick fix, no magic pill to help you drop weight. Diet (lean meat, fruit, veggies, low fat dairy such as skim milk and yogurt, whole grain foods such as100% whole wheat bread, water) and exercise ( not too excessive) are the only real way to lose weight and keep it off. Crash diets do not last long term, you end up gaining all the weight back and then some.
