yahoo answers is by no means an official source of information, but geez louise.. had you done ANY research at all or asked your vet, you would have found out the same thing.. spaying is the best, healthiest and most effective manner of birth control for cats. period.

Vets consider it far more desireable to sterilize animals as a one time deal. Stud animals are regulated by breeders, and the average house pet hasn't been looked at as being a viable market for developing a safe form of regulated birth control.

A daily pill? Hard to do for most cat owners. A liquid? Pets won't eat anything medicated. An implant? At what cost when you compare a lifetime on the implant (potentially replaced every year) versus one time sterilzation?

It's not monetarily feasable. I'm pretty sure that's why it's never been seriously looked at, much less had development go forward in research studies. Even zoo big cats have trouble with the current form of birth control (a lot of zoos won't do it to their tigers and lions anymore).

Its called spaying or neutering. That is animal birth control.

I read over your last question, and people were willing to answer your questions, even trying to educate you on what you were asking. You're just upset because no one told you where to get birth control pills for your cat. There are no such thing for cats. Its a people thing. Get over it. It amazes me how you want your cats to be untouched, the same way you got them, but you have no problem putting chemicals in their system that could hurt them.

Feel free to leave.

So sorry that you expected a open internet forum to dish out exactly what you wanted to hear. That is not how people work. If you are going to ask open questions to everyone, you should be prepared for whatever answers are given. That is what makes this fun.

Just because you didn't hear what you wanted to doesn't mean we were wrong. Maybe you should think about why so many disagree with you.
