I have a 1968 volkswagen beetle engine that has a holley carburator on it and I am having trouble finding the same choke element to replace the one I have. So that is why I was wondering if they came with a Holley Carburator.

Thank you.

VW in 1969 came with a solex 32 pict 2 carb one bbl. What you have was called the bug spray. 2 bbl holley carb onto a dual port set up. You could install a mechanical cable. Depends where you live and how lively the engine is. Set the choke element wide open an just pump the gas enough to keep the engine alive air cooled cars warm up quickly after the first or second block your Bug should stay idling.

I never herd of a German car with an American carburetor but people do all sorts of things to those old VW engines so I would say it has been replaced check for a serial number on the carburetor float bowel or throttle body and see if a speed shop can help you find the part you need. Holley is the most common aftermarket installed carburetor so someone at a speed shop should be able to help you.

Your carb was a bolt on speed item, came with adapter. All I seen and used , used the same choke parts as a Ford Pinto motor. 4 cylinder.
Try some junk yards or parts houses.
