This is actually something you can talk to your surgeon about. Most hospitals now have what they call a "Pain Team" . . they will come around every day to check your pain level. Generally they give a little morphine pump ( or similar drug) and you can control the levels based on the amount of pain you are in. If the levels are not high enough the Pain Team will all come down, look things over, and adjust it until you are comfortable.
My son has had three major surgeries (abdominal and thoracic) and has had little pain. The Pain Team will take care of you.

To Pochocrdv, I just sent this email...
"You need to go back to the poster with testicular cancer and APOLOGIZE for saying he's going to die. You should only hope nothing like that ever happens to you!"
To poster: I had a man I was taking care of who had cancer, and he had a full orchiectomy, and he was fine afterwards. Of course there is some pain, but it won't be unbearable. Just take the pain pills the doctor prescribes, and enjoy the high!
And, you have my thoughts and best wishes.
EDIT: To his credit, the guy I took to task, above, did apologize, as you can see. So, that's pretty OK.

Yes, you will suffer pain, that is a sensitive area to have surgery!
However, medical staff will do all that is possible to relieve your pain.
Immediately after the surgery, you will probably be on a drip, possibly with morphine or something simmillar.
Once that is removed, you will be given fairly strong oral pain killing medicine.
You will not be allowed to suffer, as pain slows down our healing.
Be prepared for discomfort, but whenever you are feeling real pain, let the nurses know and they will help.

everyone has different levels of pain tolerance, so it really isn't possible to tell you just how you will react to the post operative pain. Rest assured, you will be given medications for pain, no nurse likes to see her patient hurting. Do yourself a favor tho', and get out of that bed and get moving just as soon as you can. The sooner you get active, the faster you heal and the quicker the pain goes away.

Thats ridiculous you will not die, my grandpa has cancer in that same area, he has never got it removed, some people can live without having it taken care of, although I dont reccommend it. You will be fine, just take evrything slow, and make sure they give you enough pain medicine. It will only make you stronger, dont let airheads tell you that you'll die, You will live and the pain will be less everyday! Pray thats all you can do, and make sure your doc gives you some good pain meds, GOOD LUCK!!!!

I am assuming your physician will provide you with pain medication to relieve your pain.
Just remember, its not going to be comfortable, but you can ask for a pain pill or shot and you will be fine.
Good luck and my prayers are with you. Keep the faith!

My friend lost his right testes. On the scale of 1-10, we're talking a great 8. It's going to suck and I will not sugar coat it. if you have to walk, it will be like someone just kicked you in the nut. Best of luck my friend.
