Genesis 4:17 says, "Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch." Who was his wife? It is implied in the biblical text that Cain married one of his sisters. Several facts lead us to this conclusion.
First, it is clear that Adam and Eve had a number of children. Genesis 5:4 says, "After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters." Since Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and since God had commanded them (and their descendants) to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), it seems reasonable to conclude that Cain married one of his many sisters. It is also possible that he married a niece or even a grandniece.
One must keep in mind that in the early years of the human race there were no genetic defects that had yet developed as a result of the fall of man. By the time of Abraham, God had not yet declared this kind of marriage to be contrary to His will (see Genesis 20:12). Laws governing incest apparently did not become enacted until the time of Moses (Lev 18:7-17; 20:11,12,14,17,20,21). Hence, there was no prohibition regarding marrying a sister (or niece or grandniece) in the days of Cain.

ahh, one of the many many question about the bible where you cannot be given a straight answer.

Incest must have been the answer. Hmmm, isn't that immoral?

additional:. oh, the land of nod, he dreamt he had a wife. You fundies have a biblical answer for everything. Why is it so easy to believe that a suprnatural being created everything in the universe with only his will yet so difficult to believe that ther might (just might) be some other option and maybe this book you revere was written by men and could have just a few little flaws in it?

Once again, people living to be several hundred years old does help explain away some biblical inconsistencies. Did you guys just make this stuff up as you went along? There is zero evidence to back this claim other than some text that has been translated, retranslated, mistranslated, edited for content, and quoted as fact for all to accept or be eternally damned to Hades for not believing.

Time line in genesis is very long.
Even from Genesis Chapter 1 vss1-2 is a period of thousands of years. Between the earth being created and it being null and void. It was during this time that the rebellion of satan took place.
So if u look at Genesis from a wide time span and not just a few years you would realize that the earth had become more populated by the time cain actually got a wife.

Keep reading. Go about two more chapters and see that Adam and Eve had several sons and daughters. Seeing as they were living for hundreds of years before the flood, I think they would of had time to reproduce.

Dear friend,

Alot of people read the Bible looking for errors or contradictions but there are none. God tells us in Genesis 5:3-5, "And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:
4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:
5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died."

Cain married one of his sisters. Note that man was living much longer that today-Adam lived 930 years. Also, at this particular time in history, there were not the genetic mutations that we have today.

You need to use religious logic, which you clearly lack, which is a good point, but bad if you believe in god and religion.

There are two options: it was his sister, OR God made someone specifically for him. If you're religious, both are possible.
