It sounds like your up for luxury cars. For that, any BMW is awesome. I personally love the BMW X5 and the 5-series, but everyone's taste is different. You can't go wrong with any Toyota, for luxery, a Toyota Avalon gives good millage, awesome looks and features, and remarkable dependability. You can't go wrong with a Nissan Maxima. I couldn't say much about Benz's because I really don't like them that much, I just love BMW's too much.
And just because it's American doesn't mean it's bad. Take a Chevy. I had a '91 Chevy Cavalier over 150k miles, could get you anywhere you wanted to go with no problems. Had great gas millage great horse power, and that was just a couple years ago when unfortunately, the body rusted to much since it was an older car. If it hadn't, I would still be driving it today, 17 years later. I'm not saying buy one because a '91 cavalier's body will rust out eventually and they aren't the best lookers, I'm just saying American cars can have great reliability.

You couldnt be more wrong about American cars. They are just as good, if not better in some cases, as cars from anywhere else in the world. You're very misinformed and uneducated about American cars if you think they will "break down a lot". I have owned three new American cars and so have other people I know and they NEVER broke down.....ever!!. Your missing out on a lot of great cars with an attitude like that.

Mazda, Acura, and Toyota are reliable manufacturers. But I heard that the Cadillac Escalade is a good buy, plus it is very powerful for an SUV!

That is a very open ended question.
It depends on what size car you are looking for, SUV, compact, mid-size, full-size? Do you want a sedan, 4 door? How much do you want to pay? Is gas mileage an issue?

Well, Ford just beat Nissan and is on par with Toyota in recent quality. They also have some stylish vehicles including their new crossover the Ford Edge. Check out their website. http://www.fordvehicles.com/?searchid=426441|15932595|80551969
There is also Lincoln and Mercury which are both luxury divisions of Ford, and supposedly more reliable.

If you don't want to break down you don't want to buy a foreign car!, there quality is going down hill since being built here in U.S, actually GM, and Ford cars are better in quality than toyota and Honda's according to J.D. Powers survey.
