well i just wanted to now for future reference because im going to saving up all summer for one.

Unfortunately unless you find someone getting rid of their used mats you probably won't find them very cheap. The foam and vinyl that they are made from is almost entirely petroleum byproduct and so that is the reason whey they are so expensive.

Gymnastic and Cheerleading schools are required to retire there mats every so often (maybe 250 hrs), so you might see if they will let you despose of them for a small contribution.
