Well of course! Where else could they learn to put the screws to people the way they do?

Religious yes, faithful sometimes.

Being religious is simply acknowledging an agreement in belief with others that is considered a religion. Having faith means trying the best to practice what one preaches or believes.

Anytime a politician votes out of line with their religion their works show their lack of faith.

In my opinion many politicians falsely claim to be religious in order to get votes from real believers.

Also, no major party will put forward a candidate who is not religious.

The norm among politicians is not to believe in anything apart from themselves (unlike the average atheist who holds 'humanist' views, ie they believe other humans are people as well).

I don't think that religion(of any kind) should matter when electing a person into any office. They have proven time and time again that they think they are above what they say they believe by having affairs, stealing, lying ect ect. I vote for the person that seems to have the best ideas for helping our country as a whole, not by what religion they are or how clean their noses are according to religion. If I based my decision on that then I would probably NEVER vote at all.

If their policy positions seem to be consistently pro-life (anti-abortion, anti-war, anti-death penalty) I believe them. Otherwise, I tend to be skeptical, but give them the benefit of the doubt.

But I won't vote for a politician just because he or she is religious. I suspect that Bush (for whom I have never voted) thinks that he is a good Christian, but I wonder whether God would think so. Of course, I wonder whether God would think I am a good Christian, too -- I have plenty of stupid, silly sins.

Who believes anything that politicians say?

They may think they are. I'm not going to question their religious convictions but most politicians are scumbags!

However, I KNOW Mitt Romney is.

No.
And I certainly don't believe a bunch of Evangelicals who somehow convinced themselves that a foul-mouthed, alcoholic, coke snorting power-monger is religious, despite the fact that he makes little or no attempt to present himself as religious.

Rarely. I'm very pessimistic when it comes to believing anything politicians (and car salesmen) have to say.

Whether they are religious or not they have to claim to be and be a member of a religion or they will NOT get into office.

Not after Bush. I voted for him believing that he was what he claimed to be and now I think his actions have said otherwise. I won't be duped again.
