I know a fair number of people who have plain flag tattoos (my roommate, for example, has a German flag) but I've never seen one like that. I very much like the idea, especially since Italy has such a distinctive shape. Personally, I would fill in the center stripe with white ink to keep the distinction clear, but otherwise go for it!
