the key is not to "starve" the wight off of you but to "burn" the weight off of you - you can continue to eat the way you are now (try to clean it up if you can) and be active if you're not or more active if you are - try to burn an additional 600 - 800 calories off every day somehow and try to cut like 300 calories a day (which is easy if you're eating junk food or drinking soda) little adjustments over time really go a long way - there is no quick fix, commit to a healthier life style - good luck

I had the same problem but the first thing you have to realize is that you have to do what's good for your body, losing ten pounds in four weeks is pushing you might want to push your goal to six or maybe even seven weeks. This will insure you lose the weight and keep it off. This means you have to be committed and continue your healthy life style after you lose the desired weight, just not as intense on the exercising. That will keep the undesired weight off.
First of all, diets don't work, it's the mind set that it puts in you that causes it to fail almost all the time. You want to take in less calories than you exercise off. Now don't take this to the extreme and eat less and less, but take everything in proportional sizes. Also, just modify your exercise regimen to how many calories you take in. It might be healthier to talk to a trainer who could help you find what exercises will prove most effective for your body type.
If you don't feel comfortable doing this, then do a little research and plan your meals so that they contain the nutrition you need without the unneccessary calories and as you said stay away from surgary foods. You don't need to stay away from fast food you just need to be smart about what you order. Instead of a quarter pounder at McDonalds order a salad or a wrap, they taste just as good but they have nutritional value.
Another thing is that you need support. Do you have a friend who has the same goal or has decided to lead a healthy lifestyle? Ask if they'll be there for you and nudge you in the right direction when you get discourage. UNder no circumstances should you resort to pills to assist you in weight loss. Have it be a family thing. Tell your mom that you think the family should take on a healthier lifestyle (not that you might not do that now) and suggest that the family sets aside time whether it's on a Saturday or an evening that you all are done with school and work.
Last but not least, I believe something I refer to as the Odd Day Plan is one day you follow the "diet" or meal and exercise plan percisely and the other day it dosen't matter.(just avoid pigging out) Then the next day you follow the Plan. You get the idea.
Now I think you should also bear in mind this. I have followed this ever since my mom was diagnosed with cancer and we followed a plan to keep healthy. Your wieght may not go down as you would likeit to. It may be the weight you have now is fat. You may even gained some pounds. But that's not bad. If ou are following the Plan, then it might be that your fat is being replaced by muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. If you are committed then just tell yourself, "I'm not any fatter. I have just tuned my body and I am now more fit than ever before. People should be jealous of my body!"
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!!

I actually had that same question a while ago. Only difference: I wanted to lose 10 lbs. in 2 weeks. I was actually able to lose about 12 lbs. I'm not sure if my method will help you, but here's what I did.
First of all, don't try anorexia. Trust me, I did, and it sucked big time being hungry all the time. Instead, and I know you've heard this a million times, cut back on what you're eating now.
Pick a day. I chose Monday, since it's the first day of the week. For breakfast, don't eat any more than maybe a bowl of cereal or a granola bar and yogurt. I never eat breakfast, so this wasn't a problem for me. For lunch, have something light. A sandwich or a salad will do. If you want something like pasta, make sure you don't eat a bucket full of pasta and keep the sauce and cheese to a minimum. Now's the hard part, dinner. For dinner, try something just as light. I'm Indian, so I always ate a little bit of rice and some curry. a slice or two of pizza or something to that proportion would be fine though.
I kept this type of diet for about two weeks, checking my weight after each meal, except lunch (I was at school). But keep your diet varying. Don't eat a salade for lunch everyday, you know, maybe a piece of chicken or something. Just make sure you keep up with nutrients and stuff.
But eating like this isn't all. You have to excerise as well. I'm not saying wake up every morning, jog, lift weights, etc. Here's what I did.
Everynight, before I went to bed, I did some basic stretch exercises; stretching my legs, my back, and my arms. I did about 25 jumping jacks the first day, and added five the next day, and the next day, and the next, until I was up to 90 jumping jacks. (I continued this excercise and diet for 15 days as an experiment to see how much weight I would lose). After jumping jacks, I tried a few a push ups, about 5 to begin with. Once again, I added another push up everyday. After push ups, I laid on my back and did 100 crunches. I added 25 the next night and kept adding 25 afterwards every night. After all that, then I went to bed.
Now, the numbers I used for each of everything won't be the magic numbers for everyone my. My advice, keep going until you feel tension or pain. When you do, do about 5-10 more of whatever it you're doing, that way you actually gain some muscle from the excerise rather than just using whatever strength you already have to do it.
I hope this helps! Just so you don't feel like I'm some kind of freak, I'm 14 too and 5'7. I weighed about 109 lbs. when I started this, and got down to 97 lbs. But the most important thing to keep in mind, is that you don't work hard for 2 weeks, lose all that weight, and then just stop doing the excerise and eating right. You have to keep it up or else you'll just gain weight again faster than you lost it.
Best wishes!

I hear everyone say 10 pounds in a month isn't hard but when you are already at a low weight which you are, it can be very hard. That said, 122 pounds isn't that much. I wouldn't reduce the diet at all or you risk lowering your set point, making you eat less in order to maintain the lower weight. Just add cardio, 45 minutes of aerobics, heck I lost 50 pounds doing dance dance revolution 5 times a week. Without changing your diet, 45 minutes a day of exercise can lower your intake calories by 300-500 calories per day depending on how hard you work out.
All that said, I don't think loosing is your issue. If your not happy with how you look, consider doing weight/strength training to gain muscle tone, abs, if you want them, a nice lean look. You'll be surprised at how weight training will pull and suck everything in and you can even weight more and look several sizes smaller. Take a look at bodyforlife.com.. Looks at some of the before and after photos..
Good luck!

Go out the hottest part of the day and walk at a face pace and
remember to not eat anything at least 2 hours before this
exercise regimen. Make sure to have enough water and/or gatorade on hand eithier during or after the minimum 2 mile walk. Do not eat a
big meal before going to bed because carlories burn the
absolute slowest during that time. Make sure to eat lots of
fruits because these are healthy and doesn't put on the extra
pounds. Get less sleep at night and eat smaller meals than
what your normally been accustomed to.

take n less than 1,600 calories a day. Also, some fast food is an option. Like a McDonalds cheeseburger is only 370 calories. A healthy meal is in between 300-500. But dont deprive yourself to much. If you dont eat enough, your body will make you grow hair all over your arms and legs and neck.. and you'll look like youve never eaten which is NOT good. Just count calories, drink water, and build muscle. Also, eat protein in every meal.
