I was wondering how you would go about modifying a SKS 20 rnd fixed mag to only accept 10 rnds. I was wanting to know how because of the different state laws haveing 10 rnd or less in a mag. Is there any web site that shows how to do this, any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Simple.Go online and buy yourself a (10) round SKS magazine. There are a bunch on after markets sporting goods and military surplus stores that sell them. I just saw some 10 round mags the other day fior $5.95 each. These mags are legal to buy and use in most states. Just do SKS Rifle Magazines search on you search engine......

NOTE*** Altering a 30 round magazine is just as illegal as a fully loaded one in the states that have laws against 10+ round magazines. You can't block them with wood, nuts and bolts or anything else LEGALLY! To suggest this is just plain DUMB!

You don't need a website don't listen to the guy that says stick a nut and bolt in your mag that can cause wear inside the mag.

Basicly pop off the bottom plate. You can do this most likely by pressing in a tab on the bottom and sliding the butplate forward .
(watch out for the spring)

load 10 rounds in the mag.
cut a piece of wood that will fit in the mag under the spring something flat maybe an inch or to you may have to play with it a little. When this seems like the block will not bind up the spring. Replace plate. This is called blocking the mag. This is the only legal way. In the state of missouri for using a hi-cap mag while hunting i am un sure about other states.

here are a few places you can just buy a 10 round mag replacement mag fits 95% of all sks's

It's better to just get the standard fixed magazine for it and load it with stripper clips.

You can't modify your 20 round magazine to accept only 10, I have never even thought of anything of that nature.

Go to SARCO or NUMRICH ARMS and simply spend five bucks on an original ten round magazine.

put 10 rounds in it, mark the level, unload the clip, then drill a hole for a bolt and nut. or measure the same, cut the spring and place a plug ( a piece of something that takes up space) below it so you can.t put 11 rounds in the clip

I always thougt the goal was to get two 30 round clips and duck tape them together so all you have to do is pop and flip. I might have been hanging with the wrong people though.
