I know by definition I am an alcoholic, but I was just wondering if 6:00 am seemed a little to early!!! I don't do it everyday, but some reason I woke up and a nice, cold beer just sounded good! And I will tell you, it was good. So I am thinking about how I might look in the eyes of public opinion!! Thank you all for your answers!!! Oh yea, I don't drink and drive, I always take a taxi, to wherever I go to drink, so then I can't drink and drive unless of coarse I steal someones car, but then I probably wouldn't really know how to do that, because I would have to be pretty wasted to think of it, and by being so wasted I probably couldn't find the car that I wanted to steal, unless somehow I crawled to it, and they would have had to have left the door unlocked, and left there keys in it.

Dude I'm with you. Some days I get up and it just feels like a bourbon and coffee day. Some days I go to lunch and it feels like a martini lunch day. Then again, some days I don't drink at all. I don't think it's ever too early, or too late, it's all a matter of why you drink that makes you an alcoholic.

I usually have my first drink around beer:30.
If you can function and carry on a normal life you won't be considered an alcoholic. Some people might think you drink to much if you start too early. If it is beer most people will see nothing wrong if you wait until afternoon. If it is the hard stuff you should wait to have the before dinner cocktail.

Being an alcoholic isn't about where you drink, what you drink, or how much you drink.

It's about being able to handle drinking. If drinking affects your life in a negative way, hurts your loved ones, your job, your family you're an alcoholic. If you can't get through a day without a drink - then it doesn't matter if you drink one or a hundred. It's the dependency on alcohol - not the time of day that you have a drink.

When I was in college, one of the local bars had 'kegs and egg's starting at about 7am on football saturdays (football started at 12pm). The place was always packed, and I don't think everyone in there was automatically an alcoholic. Now I live on the west coast, so on 9am kickoff games days , I'm up at 6am drinking with you, and I am most certainly not an alcoholic.

most people say to drink at least after noon.
but it all really depends on you.
do you want a drink at 10 in the morning? if yes then go ahead.
having a drink whenever you want isn't being an alcoholic.
in the islands we have a saying.
it's 12 somewhere

I think it depends on where you are.
If your with the family or someting I wouldn't drink until happy hour (5pm) not to look bad if no one else is drinking. But my family is Irish so that doesn't matter, I can drink at noon and toast with them.

We use almost the same phrase but we say "It's happy hour somewhere".

LOL!!! If you have to ask, you already are an alcoholic. Just go ahead and get plastered. Any time of the day. Just make sure you get someone to be Sober Sally so you don't get yourself or someone else killed in a car accident.

I would say during or after dinner, if you are home for the evening. Obviously if you are going out afterwords, you need to hold off or find a driver!
