Because "You" just gets in there with best friend "Ego" and tries to keep us away from realizing awareness.
Best to leave You somewhere way far away from the pillow.
EDIT: For those of you who have made comments about how prayer is good and meditation is bad, please consider reading your Bibles. Meditation figures prominently in both the Old and New Testaments. Among others, the Bible admonishes one to "be still in the presence of G-d".
May all beings be happy, well, and blessed.

When a person meditates, he focuses his concentration on a mantra or a certain picture in his mind, and attempts to remained focused on that singular thing. This focuses the mind on the area known as the pineal gland, also known to the mystic types, as the third eye. Focusing on this region of brain function stimulates, hormonally, certain physical functions related to sex/libido as well as sleeping, plus the trancelike state that true meditation can bring. This forced stimulation of the pineal gland however, is unnatural, and because it effects and stimulates the flesh, which by definition against the spirit.
Meditation is like "anti-praying" for the meditator only rejoices in himself, with himself, where as the man who is in deep prayer not only rejoices with himself, but also in and with the Creator. Also, real prayer does not excite the pineal gland, but another location on the brain, which has been coined the "God Spot," or God Module." This area of the brain, located on the right temple side of the brain, has been studied for years. It is the spiritual center of your brain, and when you are spiritually aroused, through prayer, reading the Bible, or thinking for a long period of time, you can feel this side of your brain tingle.
Prayer - Good
Meditation - Bad

1) Meditation produces power in the thing meditated
2) There are those, both human and evil spirits, that do not want people to have power.
3) Therefore, its been said: "It is best, for You not to become involved in the meditation process" to keep people from attaining any power.
PS: The power is the ability to do whatever you set your mind to doing without being afraid, hopeless, or without assurance. It is the confidence to do and be whatever is desired.

In this age of Kali the process is not meditation. That process was meant for previous ages and is a waste of time spiritually in this age. If you want to do it for selfish reason to help the body and mind it is OK. But for spiritual advancement the process is the chanting and glorification of the Name. The Maha Mantra is the great mantra for deliverance of all misery and illusion. It is a meditation but it is sound meditation. Meditating on the highest sound vibration of the Holy names of God. God is One with many transcendental names. Not just any name will do you must chant the bonafide names of God like Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. IT is a great science of the Soul and chanting this maha mantra is the quickest way to transcend the mind and body and come to the highest spiritual realization. Don't monkey around with unauthorized meditations for this age. If someone tells you to touch your nose and you reach all the way around to the back of your head and come around an touch it. isn't that not necessary. Similarly to do all this gymnastics and mind blank so called mediation is not the process for this age. They are all misinterpreting the Vedas and making up their own idea. Read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada tells all asitis.com you can read it on line. if you like writ me for the link to complete description of the mantra and other mantras.

Didnt you know that things like meditation and yoga are of the devil. At least that is what my fundy daughter in law says.
In reality, when a person prays, it is a meditation. And now they are saying that if you watch a Harry Potter movie it is the same as being a satinist.
