Heres the story from my view. I'm the parent the girl who is 17 and will be graduating soon. My sisters kid is a boy and his friend has interest in her. The two seem to want to go out even through the age difference. Shes 17, soon to be 18 and hes 15, soon to be 16. He's a great kid and I don't think he'll cause problems but what should I do about the age issue?

They both are going to college too, that makes more problems.

They've been friends for years and thats only brought them closer, so I'm kind of iffy on that they'll break up quick thing.

They have had chances for sex in the past. I strongly believe she and him are both smart about that. I just don't know about the age scene.

I think that if you try to intervene in this situation it could only of course make matters worse. However if you find or believe that your daughter and the young man can work the situation out between the two of them without your assistance then you should allow them to do so.

I know that the young man is underage however if he has taken an interest in your daughter and she returns that same interest I think that you should allow them to see each other. See where it leads. I mean you wouldn't want to just tell her no before she or you gets to know the young man better.

Also remind your daughter she is graduating soon and that she will be an young adult soon. Tell her that it is up to her how she wants to handle the situation. Ask her opinion about rather than others. She can give you more insight because the situation involves her.

Good Luck!
Charlie

Ok...from being 17 a few years back...i'll tell you....let her go see him if she wants. It won't take her long to figure out that she doesn't want a younger guy. If she's heading to college soon there are going to be so many guys that are there that she wants to date. If she likes this guy now and hasn't dated much before, let her get her feet wet. You really need to wait on this worry and worry about the older guys in college. Good luck.

They are both horny teenagers and you are lucky you arent a grandparent.YOU can take that risk if you wish I would not.He is 15 and not an adult.Neither of them could take care of a baby if they messed up and it is YOUR duty to keep that from happening.TRell them they can go out with a chaperone. This is what our grandparents did and they didnt have the teen pregnancy problem we have today.

If they are in college and she is almost 18 she is old enough to make her own decisions. Just let them be and everything will work out fine. They may just be good friends for all you know. Let go of your baby and let her grow up.

WHY is everyone assuming they are going to be having sex?? Some kids date for different reasons!!

I know a girl, age 18 who dated a boy, 15, and got pregnant - within the first month they dated.
I hope you have already taught your children about sex and values, as well as risks of disease and pregnancy.
SHE is the one who could be prosecuted for statuatory rape, and she is the one who could get pregnant.
I would also discuss his intentions - maybe it will scare him off!

Whatever is going to happen, will happen.
No point stressing about it. Just have faith that you raised her the right way to be able to think for herself and come up with the right answers.

Nothing. But do warn that having sex with him, if there relationship gets to that point, could be unlawful, and she could get in legal trouble
