That is one of 'many' issues that those with a modicum of common sense have noted. That whole book to include the NT, is nothing but a lot of hooey.

God created the earth,a nd he destroyed it. This was because of the prevalence of extreme sin at that point. Flood killed all humanity except for the family of the one man who feared God.
Throughout the Old Testament, God’s judgment against sin is shown to be limited by the impact and extent of human wickedness.
God is loving and kind; but He is also just and sovereign. He will discipline human beings, so that we don't fall further into sin.

Actually, He saved eight people from the flood: Noah, his wife, His three sons, & his sons' wives. God was displeased with how evil His creation had become. And you can't compare God with man. God created man. A parent does not create a child. And you can't compare the love of God & the love of man. Even the love of a parent for their child.

it's because you take the old testament as Scripture not as the story book for children for which it was written.. God never did any of the things in the old testament literally. they where written as learning stories for the Jewish children of the Diaspora in Alexandria Egypt of the first century BCE. by the group of scholars lead by hilltel

You must be afraid of what is yet to come, and you should be. God has NEVER destroyed anyone undeserving, EVER. God as our creator has the right to set the standards and laws we are to live by, do not the covernments set laws and standards for their people?, do they not have a punishment system for those who will not obey the law?, do they not have the right to execute those who are wicked on a grand scale? Well they do, and yet they are not the one who created all. God is, and he punishes those who will not obey the laws he sets. Bottom line, people bring it on themselves.

The Jewish deity is indeed a horrible cruel murderer--why the Christians align themselves with such a genocidal maniac beggars belief .

You are applying a standard of morality to God. Acknowledging the existence of God and then saying you refuse to worship Him because He doesn't adhere to your moral code is nonsensical.
