I think every veteran should be treated with respect.
They all went into the service to protect our country. There are more veterans out there that served and never saw combat then the ones that did. Does a sailor on a ship deserve less respect then a Marine on the beach in a combat zone?
They are all there to protect our way of life.

Honor them, and thank them for their sacrifice, and recognize that your way of life and the rights that you hold dear as an American are only preserved through the continued sacrifice of other Americans willing to put their lives on the line for you, whether or not you agree with their cause.
You also might try reprimanding other non-veterans for sneering at or ignoring what actual combat veterans have to say about this war, or any other war. That particular issue is a growing problem in this country that most people refuse to admit.
EDIT: the answerer before me, Wolf, hit the nail right on the head.

Let them have free oil, gas etc. for the rest of their lives.
No taxes either, the tax break given by my town is a joke.
There really isn't enough that can be done for our veterans.
Oh, get rid of the sub standard VA system and give the vets access to quality free health care, service connected rating or not.
EDIT: All the above for COMBAT veterans, not the ones that still get Veteran plates even though they stayed in ths US supporting missions or homeland security.

American men and women that fought in a war , and only the ones that actually got a combat action ribbon should get free health care for life . After I was in the military for 5 years , mostly with the marines and fought in Fallujah in 2004 . I started having health problems , shoulder pain neck pain back and knee pain . Plus very bad ptsd . The Military didnt care because I was out . So I say free health care . Semper Fi 2/1 Weapons Co.

I think active military service in time of war should be an alternative to paying taxes the rest of your life.
Put your life on the line for one tour, or put your money on the line for the rest of your safe, secure cushy American life bought by the blood of someone else's sons and daughters.

Democrats in Congress just past higher benefits for all vets, they also raised the life insurance to $250,000 for those killed.
Republicans will tell you they did it and Democrats cut benefits.
You may have to check that a decide for yourself who is a liar.

As much as we can to support and encourage them. As a Viet Nam Vet I know how important that home support is. What happened in my time will never happen again. Peace

As a disabled Marine Veteran, I am all for giving Veterans all of the help they need. I feel that we dont do enough for Veterans as it is. Its time this country got thankful for the freedom they have and extend their thanks to Veterans instead of giving handouts to all of these other countries.

We should treat them all with respect, just like any other person, treat them normally, like a human being, treat them the way you expect to be treated. We can only pray & remember the deceased ones.

since I fit in one of your catagories, if you would send me about 604 cash in an envelope, I would consider us square for my 10 years on active duty in serving during two wars for keeping the enemy from ruining your way of life or that has kept your family from having to eat raw fish heads and rice on thanksgiving day.
