I'm curious on who fellow R&S's are--if you're a Christian, have you taken classes in comparative religion or world history and concluded that yours is the only true faith. Or have you just decided your faith IS the true faith without reference to others?

I ask because sometimes it's hard to understand the mindset of some believers here, and it would help to get a sense of how they arrived at where they are today. Thanks in advance!

I did actually take an unbiased (state university taught) monotheist religion class. It was very interesting and the professor had good and bad things to say about all three monotheist religions - Islam, Judaism, Christianity.
When picking a religion people need to think about what they would believe if they were born in another part of the world - truth is truth, not just what is revealed to you.

In the end I became Catholic. Many of you may not like it, but I found that it was the one that is true.

Yes I have compared other religions, grew up with people of different faiths and was without any faith for years. That didn't make me decide to be a Christian though. God did. He proved Himself to me. I called on Him and that's where my faith came from.

God Bless.

I've spent over 60 years studying folkways and religions. I seek universals. I have never found a single religion that would satisfy the needs the Lore has instilled in me. I will be studying through many, many, cycles of lives, and be happy in the doing.

I am Christian. I haven't taken any classes yet, but I have read the Qur'an, book of Mormon. I've studied Judaism, Hindu, Buddhism. I started out as atheist, then when I sensed the spiritual world, I studied pagan & wiccan.
My spiritual journey has gone a long way, and theres still more to learn. I believe Jesus was who he and his followers claimed him to be. I humble myself and admit that I don't have all the answers.

I can't say that I have investigated every possible religion out there, but I have researched many. I was very interested in Buddhism at one point, and probably would have become Buddhist except that God had other plans for me. I am convinced that Christianity is the truth, and that Jesus is saving a place for me in Heaven at this very moment.

Have a great day!

I was raised Catholic. I became agnostic in engineering college. Being interested, I've read books on Atheism, the Qu'ran, the Tora, a book from the Daliah Lama and several books on pagan traditions. I even dated a witch for a while (a wiccan lady--no pun intended). When I needed him most it was Jesus who answered me. He saved me from a fate worse than death--alcoholic insanity. I've come full circle back to the Catholic Church. The Church started by Jesus himself.

I am a Catholic, and I have studied many Protestant faiths, the Muslim faith, and the Buddhist faith. I still prefer mine, though, but at least I understand the rest.

Now you sir. I can respect your beliefs 100%. I can't believe you have gone out and researched other religions. I'm very impressed. More people should be like you
