Rabies vaccinations are usually pretty cheap themselves around $20 maybe less, depending on the vet you go to. Normally they'll want to do a checkup before giving any shots which then will charge you a visit fee to do. The checkup consisted of weighting, listening to heart, checking teeth & ears. Most places gave me a quote avg. $35-40 for the fee.

At the vet hospital where I work, the Rabies vaccinatio n is $18.00, plus the required exam (to avoid vaccinating a cat that is sick) is $27.50.
You can probably get lower-cost vaccinations at an animal shelter or humane society, and many communities have mobile vaccination clinics that visit rural areas.
Be sure the vaccine is from Merial Laboratories. Ask. It costs about twice as much as the other Rabies vaccines, but it is the only one made especially for cats. The other Rabies vaccines contain an ingredient that can cause skin cancer in a small percentage of cats. It's only a 3% to 5% chance, but it isn't worth taking the chance just to save a few dollars.

We charge $25 for the examination by the doctor and the rabies vaccine at our practice. All animals must be examined by the doctor before any vaccine is given.
We usually do not charge an additional exam fee as long as there are no major health issues or lengthy discussions about health/behavior issues.

Rabies I will say cost are maybe around $38 dollars. I don't think it is that expensive. I say each Veterarian cost different. Just check around at these different Vets and go with the one that is cheaper.

There's a one year and a three year version--depending on what your area requires.
Last time I got one for the cats it was $12 here in the Midwest.
Call any of the vets in the phone book, they'll tell you what they charge for the shot.

My vet charges $15 for the 3 year shot. The vet should have records of when yours last had their shots, you can get copies of their records to have at home instead of the tag, or ask for a replacement tag.
