I THINK the reason is because of where is is. If there are tree surrounding it, it may not be getting enough nutrients. It could also be how the roots react.

Trees grow towards the sun. So if the sun is in a certain place most of the time, that is the direction where the tree is going to grow.

Three main reasons

1) The slope of the earth its roots are set in. (i.e. on the side of a hill)
2) A constant wind in one direction (once again, mostly seen on hills and mountains)
3) Like you alluded to, the direction most of the sunlight hits it.

Usually wind although some are low growing shrubs - I suppose technically not trees, but of same kinds of species.
Go to Google images and put in 'coniferous shrubs' to see low growing versions of 'coniferous forests'

no longer gonna take place! The seed of maximum pines are interior the chip of the cone , no longer the backside of it.although, it may be relaxing to sneek over there and replace her cones with some actual pine seedlings in simple terms to confirm her face.

Sometimes its because the roots have been moved or damaged, during a storm or soil erosion.
