I feel sorry for those who feel ugly (not necessarily are ugly).

Do you think that appearences have to do a lot with self-esteem?

It's sad to say but I really feel that appearance is everything for most people all though not many will admit it. We judge people on what they look like before anything else! Me included

appearence is a main contribution to self esteem, may people want to have the perfect appearence because of te pressure put on them by the media and most celebrities. You should not feel sorry for these people because most of the time these people are more down to earth and kind then others with the most perfect appearence!

I think that they have in most cases everything to do with low self-esteem... In our society today its always about glamour, how skinny a celeberity is, the clothes she wears ect! Thats what girls watch on TV and think they need to be like and care about... I hate it but i really think most girls (including myself) think that they're appearence is the most important thing... I am one of those girls who always feel ugly, think that noone will ever like them if they aren't skinny enough, pretty enough ect. There is so much more to a person then their appearence and i think that if they focused on the person they are inside not how they look on the outside their self-esteem would be alot better...

I sometimes feel ugly and when people tell me im not i get angry lol But then again thats when my self esteem is low and im tired.
If i feel good about myself i tend to look better, my eyes have a sparkle and i wear nice clothes.
Its all to do with feelings, you can kind of tell how someone feels by the look of their appearance.

Yes, a lot, I believe. Most people who have low self esteem often think they're hideous looking or ugly. But most of the time, they're normal or attractive, but don't know it.

I do not put to much faith in appearances b/c i do not look all that bad but after i started having kids my teeth started going bad and i had them restored twice but they still went bad and i would never smile and i did not feel good about myself at all untill i had them pulled and got dentures you can not even tell i have them and i feel a whole lot better about my appearance. Never judge a book by thier cover.

Oh yeah. If you know that you look good then, then you will be really confident. And confidence is key. I'm not saying that you have to be be drop dead gorgeous to be confident. Just like the way you dress and stuff. If you dress like a slob, and you know i, your self-esteem is way low. But if you dress like a sucessful person in life, your self-esteem and confidence level is definetaly boosted.

yes to a great deal,
but it is something that comes from the inside so if one is able to build it with other attainment in life then appearance becomes just one of the factors to high self esteem

No self confidence and the lack of it makes people say Or think they are ugly.Too much emphasis on physical beauty. Not enough of character and inner beauty. Some people are put down most of their life by people that they start to believe they have no worth.Always value a person by whom they are and not how hot they look.
