My son is almost a year old. He likes to drink water and juice and he just loves to eat. He eats all his fruits and vegetables.
My friend's 18 Month old refuses to eat any of his vegetables unless if it has lots of cheese on it. My younger cousins are still in gradeschool and they hardly eat any vegetables at all and are over weight (parents are too). I want to know what age kids start becoming picky eaters and what I can do to help my son keep enjoying healthy foods. I don't want to be a health freak or anything. He does get little tastes of sweet foods but not very often yet.

My kids have always loved veggies.
Just keep serving them and they will continue to like them.
Offer them at every meal.
Don't be shy.

Even at just a year, most kids can eat small bits of regular food rather than "baby Mush ".
Keep it fresh and keep it coming.

Depends on the kid. I'm a teen and I hate vegetables, but I like fruit. I'm a very picky eater, and I will admit I don't eat a lot of vegetables and I'm not even close to being overweight. Some kids are just different than others.

Now abruptly, he (17) needs condiments on his hamburger (huh?), he needs a caesar salad with each and every meal. he will try new ingredients and is chowing down like a monster. That makes me chuffed in view that he hasn't adequate meat on his backside to hold up his denims! yet while he became into 8, warm chocolate & marshmallows (I substituted Carnation instant Breakfast) have been the only element he could devour or drink. He survived, and he's very almost 6' tall. save introducing the greens, early in the meal while he's hungry, and sometime he will marvel you and ask for extra. TX mom Mine are 17 & 21

It sounds like they never got their children into veggies when the kids were young, like you are. Mine is nearly 8, and has never acted that way. There are certain things she doesn't like, as with all of us. But she never balks at new foods, or refuses to eat veggies, because they've always been a part of her diet.

Just keep doing what you're doing!

I depends on the influence, the tastes of the kid, and the way the parents cook. I've Always LOVED vegetables because my parents wouldn't cook them till' they were mushey. he cooked them so they always had the snap of a raw vegetable but the nutrients and safety of a cooked one. she always used to put olive oil and salt and pepper. they were great. usually with average kids (not overweight, not thin) the age is about 2 1/2 but i never hated vegetables and my friend always hated them.

You are doing the right thing, exposing him to fruits and veggies. I offered lots of them to my daughter when she was younger. She ate frozen peas, or mixed veggies for snacks. She actually asks to have green beans or corn out of the can for a snack now. (she's 3) It's all training. If you feed them tons of veggies at a young age, they'll crave them. If you make them sound yucky, your kids won't eat them.

just feed him healthy food and not junk.
not all kids are the same.
realize they have more taste buds than you and things taste stronger to them.
which is why kids often don't like strong-tasting foods (asparagus, broccoli etc.)
set the exampe yourself (and dad) by eating healthy foods.

Right after my son went to table food instead of baby food, he became picky.
