We are in Viet Nam for only 12 days and really want to see Angkor Wat, Cambodia while we are in that part of the world. I am planning the following itinerary while in Viet Nam - is it even possible? Please don't tell me that I should take more time because I can't, just let me know if this particular 2 day/1 night trip is feasible.

Day 1 - Late afternoon flight (leave btw 4pm-7pm) from HCMC to Siem Reap. Hotel in Siem Reap.

Day 2 - See sunrise at Angkor Wat, rent bikes and tour temples for about 6-8 hours, depending on heat, interest level, etc. Late afternoon flight (leave btw 4pm-8pm) from Siem Reap to Ha Noi

Can anyone recommend if that is even possible? Thank you!!

Not a big deal. You can do this easily and Angkor Wat is really worth it. You will be moving fast so don't rent bikes. Just get a driver to take you around it will give you more time and you won't get lost. Make sure that you have a multiple entry visa for Vietnam or it will cost you. You won't have enough time in Cambodia to get another visa. I know you said not to say it but Duuude! Take more time. This a wonderful part of the world. I came for a couple of months on an around the world trip and I am still here a year later. There is just so much to see and do that is just phenomenal! Sell your house and car. Quit work and go on the road full time. Oh. Sorry I got carried away.. That's my life I am talking about! You will have a ball. Good luck and happy traveling!

Is it possible? Yes.
Is it gonna be difficult? Yes.

Before planning the trip to Viet Nam, I think you should have looked up a package to where they would stop at Siem Reap/Angkor Wat. I found a package online that offers it.

Well now, with such little time, money and access are the only problems you would have to worry about. Check with the airport in Saigon and see if they have a straight flight from there to Siem Rap/Angkor Wat (i highly doubt a round trip if you are only staying one night, but check anyway), then from Siem Rap check back a ticket to Saigon. Costs you double. The times may or may not be the same as you want it. And you need a multiple entry Visa for Viet Nam on the way back.

Wanting an immediately flight would cost you more, and if that's an issue, then take a bus.

A bus from Saigon to Angkor Wat will take approx. 6 hours. It's a long time, but hey, ROAD TRIP!

Try and figure something out, if you can't make it to Angkor Wat this trip, maybe next time? Give or take, one or another is how life is. Give some more time going to Angkor Wat if you REALLY want to go there, and spend less time in Viet Nam. Goodluck!
