How long?
Did you drink water/juice?
Did anyone partially fast (eat only fruit/bread)?
What was the result?
Were your prayers answered?

Yeah, Scotty Doesn't Know -
I don't think one should be deemed
"less spiritual" because they don't fast.
I don't fast often, but have a few times.
It was when God told me to.
Some situations call for that specifically.
We should not fast just to feed some
religious ego - but for a purpose!

I definitely believe in prayer/fasting. There have been several occasions where fasting and prayer have brought an answer to prayer in my life. One time when I was in High School, a friend of mine was being abused by her mother and so some of us fasted for 24 hours drinking only water, and "out of no where" (or so it would seem to one looking in from the outside) DCS took her out of that home! It was amazing. And as far as scripturally, although there is not a command to fast, Jesus made it clear that our "spiritual authority" is much stronger because of fasting and prayer (Mark 9:29).

I fast all the time. Some days just wake up that morning and decide not to eat or drink anything. Because of my schedule I only eat one time a day and sometimes don't eat for two or three days in a row. So when Ramadan comes around I really have nothing to change in my schedule even though I know I am not properly doing it if I don't eat before sunrise (which I never do anyway). I have never eaten breakfast in my life. So I fast all day without having eaten anything in the morning and then I am at work when the sun goes down so I don't get to break the fast until around 10 or 11 pm anyway. So really it is the same as every other day of my life. I have lived like this (mostly because of stress and depression) for so many years that I actually believe my stomach has shrunk and I can live on less food and go without eating for longer periods of time. Just today (Wednesday) I ate some pizza at 6 pm and had not eaten anything since Monday at 3 pm.
Unfortunately, the fact that I do this every day anyway, takes away from the religious aspect of "fasting".
But yes, when I do make an intention to "fast" for God, I usually find that I pray more during these times. And yes, I have had prayers answered. But only when I was not asking.

Interesting that you ask this.
I'm debating this issue at my church right now.
There are some in my church who say that if you're not fasting, you're not a good Christian. I disagree.
No where in the bible are we commanded to fast. Nor does it say that our prayers will be answered any differently than if we do not fast.
Fasting IS, I will agree, a spiritual discipline that may help some people get closer to God. However, anytime anyone wants to tell me that I'm less spiritual than they are because they fast and I don't...they're gonna have words with me.

Rarely. But I remember one time I did for a couple of days with water and juice. I did get an answer to a prayer - wisdom about what to do about a difficult situation.

I fasted (water only) and prayed 24 hours one day a week for a month. I was praying for closer communion with God and my prayer was answered. It was definitely a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone whose body/mind/spirit can handle it.

I hardly ever fast. The last time was about 3 years ago. I felt God was telling me to fast. I fasted for three days, just drinking water. Three days later my dad died. I did have a dream of him that morning he passed away. I saw him walking with Jesus.

My church participated in a 30 hour famine where no one ate (unless you were diabetic) and we raised money for orphans and other organizations. Our prayers were answered and we raised a quite large amount of money.

I fasted and prayed to quit smoking. It was for one day, no food, no drink. My prayer was answered. I quit smoking.
