According to Pope Benedict's reassertion of the Catholic Primacy earlier this month, there is really no such thing as a non-Catholic Christian.

So, that means if you are:

Orthodox
Aryan
Anglican
Protestant
Calvinist
Quaker
Presbyterian
Unitarian
Mormon
Jehovah's Witness
New Life
Seventh Day Adventist
Episcopalian
Methodist

...or any other of a large number of churches, then you're not really a Christian at all.

So, how do you feel about this?

Alright...to add a clarifying note, Benedict's statement was not *really* saying that you were not Christian. What the assertion of primacy is that all other Christian denominations flow out of Catholicism (which is technically false) because Jesus created Catholicism (which is DEFINITELY false) and so all other Christians that are not Catholics are merely copies and not (in his own words) "true Christians". I hope that clarifies things for those who wanted to play word games.

Christ himself was against organized religion. He had issues with the strict traditions and restrictions of the Jewish religion, like needing ten men present to read the Torah. So he was a religious heretic. But he believed that a person's relationship with God was their own and not any church or synagogue's business. So, I feel pride.

Oh no, pride is a sin, isn't it?

Oops.

How do I feel?
I don't really care what the Pope thinks....

I assume I don't need to point out that there is a long history of strife and contradictions between the Catholics and Protestants ????
There are denominations (and congregations) in both Catholic and Protestant churches that teach that the other is "wrong"
Seems to me that a person generally only cares what the Pope thinks if they are actually Catholic. AND if your Catholic then you are not on the list...see how that works;)

This is the same sentiment the Roman Catholic Church has expressed for many years. His statements are not new. It does not affect my beliefs in any way, because I am certain the path I follow will lead me to salvation.
The question is, what will the churches do?
Unite and worship in the spirit of unity? Wouldn't that bring the country together and make it truly one nation under God? Sound strange? For example: Haven't you heard of the interfaith stewardship allience?
According to Bible prophecy, the Papacy regained its universal influence in 1798(after a deadly wound was inflicted) only to regain universal influence and set the stage for a dramatic role in the last days.
Events are moving us toward that day when the lamblike beast will roar like a dragon.

Well, Christian means being a follower of Christ. So the only real Christians are those that adhere to the what Jesus taught. Among other things, this would include, "by this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves" (John 13:35) ...Well, killing your fellow "Christians" in a secular war doesn't quite seem to go along with that teaching.
Using THAT reasoning rules out a WHOLE lot of religions that claim to be Christian, huh?

Hmm, follwer of Christ is what Christian means so if you don't follow the bible and accept Christ then you are not a Christian. So if the bible says at 1 Timothy 4:1-3 that those who fall away from the faith ,,,who speak lies...forbidding to marry (hmmm), commanding to abstain from foods which God created (fish on friday anyone?), supporting unparralled atrocities (does the Nazi holocaust whose leader, Hitler was supported by the Catholic church, or the Rwandan Massacre or any of the other wars supported by various Popes, do they sound Christ Like to you?) The current Pope even goes against the Bible by supporting evolution so if he doesn't even believe what he teaches, who cares what he says? Let him flap his lips all he wants, just cause he says something does not make it true, no matter how many times he says it does. So, that is how I feel about it, thanks for asking. Whew!

"True Christians" are defined by the founder of Christianity, Jesus Christ, not by any human.
Among other things he said that his disciples would have love among themselves (John 13:35) Those who love one another would certainly never slaughter one another in war. He said that his sheep know him (John 10:14) Christians know that he is "the Christ the Son of the living God", not God himself. (Matthew 16:16) Jesus also said his followers would be "no part of the world" as he was (John 15:19) Jesus refused to get involved in the politics of his time. True Christians follow his example.

You've been misinformed.

He stated that although the RCC is the true Church established by Christ Himself, other denominations are also Christians, thus retaining salvation just as Catholics do.

Its quite the opposite as you see.

I think that Catholics are trying to revert back to their stricter standards from the past (since all the bad press they received from their priests molesting little choir boys). Plain and simple they're trying to get "back on top".

The truth is that Lord is the only true way and light of the world. Whoever follows in the Lord will delight in his glory...not just Catholics.

I don't really care what some old German guy that is drunk on his own power thinks. I only care about what God has said for himself.

" I neither can nor will make any retraction, since it is neither safe nor honourable to act against conscience." (Martin Luther at the Diet of Worms, May 25, 1521)

First off I have not respect for the present Pope nor the Catholic Church. I can talk to Christ one on one with having to go to confession. NO WHERE in the bible does it tell me that I must go confess my sins to a Pope no where. I can have a relationship with my God and Savior One on One with out the Catholic Church or any church for the matter.Christ gave his life for my sins not so I could go to a POPE and confess them to him and he in turn say you are forgiven say twelve hail Mary's; and you are saved.
Where was the Catholic Church during WWII let me tell you bargaining with the Nazi's so they would not bomb the Vatican. Speaking of the Vatican I was there in 1997 I say millions and millions of dollars in art statues and other stuff and yet I hear them saying give more give more.the value of the stuff that I saw there could wipe out starvation and several other things
The bible says (Matthew 19:24
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.")
Need I say anything else
The Nazi Pope can say what he likes My God and Savior tells me differently
