I'm getting a new Macbook this coming fall, however, I'd like to have the microsoft programs on my new Mac. With the CD I have, can I install Office 2000? Or does the macbook already come with a version of Excel, Word, etc.?

First off, as others have said, you need the Mac version, unless you plan to use Apple's Bootcamp or Parallels, both of which require a copy of Windows (read more here: http://www.macworld.com/2006/04/features/winmacfaq/index.php ). What I would suggest is just downloading NeoOffice, which is a open-source alternative to Microsoft Office (http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php .) Also, your Macbook will have a trial of Office and iWork pre-installed, I believe.

PCs and Macs have their own specific software versions. Here is a list for Macs.

Unless you have an intel MAC that allows dual boot to Windows, you cannot install the Windows version.

sure, the two employing "Boot camp" or (ideally) setting up a VMWare server and working living house windows on a digital device. the comprehensive thing with regard to the latter is which you would be able to droop your digital living house windows field whenever you're are not employing it so it is going to likely be attainable almost directly, yet simply by fact which you're working MacOS in the back of it and employing it browse the internet, and so on, you heavily isn't issue to the zillions of Microsoft Viri. it is, you purely use living house windows for what you truly would desire to. With bootcamp, you finally finally end up shutting the MacOS down and booting living house windows, shutting that down and booting MacOS to pass returned. Painful. What you will conclusion up examining is that (noticeably with the creation of Openoffice 2.0) there are in simple terms some motives to run living house windows. My digital device has adequate disk area for the living house windows distribution and then samba mounts the host hardware for each thing else. I truly have one living house itemizing (sitting on the host device, samba fixed by skill of the digital device). by skill of ways, no, you won't be able to do the equivalent with living house windows (run MacOS in a digital device on the suitable option of living house windows).
