Creationists tell me that since I cannot see Evolution happen in my lifetime, then my belief that evolution occurs over millions of years is faith based. They then claim that is why we should teach intelligent design as an alternative to the theory of evolution. Well I have never directly observed gravity. All I have observed is gravity's effects. When I drop something it falls. I am seeing gravity's effects but I am not seeing gravity directly, so therefore my belief that gravity exists is also faith based. So I decided we should teach "intelligent falling" as an alternative the the theory of gravity, you know, since no one can observe gravity. I also realized just now that no one can actually see electricity. So we are going to have to start teaching "Magical Energy" as an alternative to the theory of electricity. So what do you say Creationists, let's all jump on the band wagon and start teaching all these other alternative theories.

Even if evolution were a theory in its infancy (which it isn't) and didn't have overwhelming evidence in support of it (which we do) Creationism and ID are not valid scientific explanations because they aren't scientific at all. For that reason they wouldn't have any place in the science curriculum. It doesn't follow that if A is false due to lack of evidence then B (which has zero evidence) is true.

That is great I love the logic you bring to the table. If you do not mind I would like to use this argument.

But, i agree that some of the scientific theories can not be seen only the effects of them observed.

The thing that seems to me is that people say that it is "only a theory". I think they have forgotten science class they talk of evolution as a theory but what they are really trying in vane to say is that a theory is like a hypothesis. Which of course is wrong. A theory has to go from a hypothesis then after more data is collected and observed it becomes a theory. Only after it is able to be reproduced does it become a law / fact and this is the reason at this point that we can not call evolution a law / fact. Science has not be able to reproduce it but other than that little problem the vast majority of scientists agree that evolution is a fact it is just not reproducible currently.
However there is a guy and I can not think of his name that is trying right now as we speak to reproduce evolution on a cellular basis and I think if he is able to do this then we can put the whole thing to rest evolution will be a 100% fact and not a 95% fact.

What will the religious people do then??? I hope I am still alive to see that day and finally have the last laugh.

That's an absurd comparison. There is proof that can be seen to support gravity and electricity. There is no proof that can be seen for evolution as it is currently taught. Everything is based on theory. That's why people would like to see other plausible theories taught alongside evolution. If science had frozen apes giving birth to humans, then evolution would no longer be a theory it would be fact. In fact if anyone in the world ever observed to species giving birth to another species, there would be some fact behind evolution, but since this has NEVER happened, evolution remains a theory.

I think you should leave the Creationists alone. They are small and narrow and will never accept your position. So why should you bother?

Creationists, you should stop trying to influence secular education. Evolution has been taught in schools for a lot longer than most of you have been alive and you've all managed to reject it without having to be taught to do so in school.

Neither side of the "Where did we come from?" debate faces an existential threat from the other. Therefore, it is pointless to continually harp on eachother. Give it a rest, you're all embarrassing me and yourselves.

You are incorrect in your assertion about gravity. The item falling is following the law of gravity, the item hitting the floor is the gravity effects. Gravity = cause, item hitting floor = effect. You can observe gravity in action, you can test it, re-test it, and you get the same results. Evolution cannot be observed or tested, instead, we interpret the evidence we have. We have the same evidence, we interpret it different than you. The reason the atheists won't allow creation or intelligent design to be taught side by side with evolution is that they know that if the students see alternative views taught without prejudice they might not believe in it and might actually....think, instead of being force fed a flawed hypothesis.

Most humans are not able to reslove the seeming incongruity of being and non being and divide science and religion. God is infinite and the universe is a bubble with no surface tension. My God uses science as "how". Creationists are confusing how with "why" in my humble opinion.

My universe is millions, if not billions of years old and my God uses allegory and story telling to keep creation alive. If the "creationist" mythos makes some people happy and they are not forcing it Taliban style on my nieces this is what America is about, freedom to worship as individuals see fit.

The existence of Gravity isn't a theory, the cause of it is a theory. Gravity can be observed, tested and verified. Electricity is created, tested, harnessed, and used. It exists. It can be measured. It can be observed through electron microscopes. Evolution has never been seen. It has been tested through Billions of births, and every dog still has puppies that are dogs. Digging up bones doesn't verify science. It is a theory, that will never be proven and shouldn't be involved in science. By the way, I dont want creation in schools either, but I want the religion of evolution out.

See you miss the point, we have been taught that evolution was the way, but now we can put a man on the moon, send a probe to the end of our universe, take a heart out of one person and put it back in another, but we cant find one, just one, little piece of evidence to prove that Darwin's theory is anything other than a theory. the bible tells me that the Jews built treasure cities as slaves for Ramses in Egypt, i can see them, The Bible tells me that there was a place called Babylon, Nineveh, the Persian Empire Now I can see them. The bible tells me that there was a man named Jesus, History tells me he lived. The bible tells me that 500 years before he lived, Daniel predicted the life and conquest and death of Alexander the great, and how his kingdom would be split into 4 pieces, History confirms this occurred. The bible tells me in the last days, All the world will be watching and condemning Jerusalem, and they are, so you see, when the Bible tells me that God created everything that was created, I have no reason to doubt it. It is up to you to prove you side, if you can.

I am not a "Creationist" but interesting that you should choose gravity to demonstrate your point because while science can demonstrate what we call gravity, it cannot explain it. Interesting isn't it? Religious people can demonstrate the action of God in the world but they cannot prove it.
As for evolution, it is called a "theory" for a very good reason. It has never been proved. There is not one single instance of a species evolving into another species. The only evidence is for development within species and that does not have to be evolution but rather just the adjustment of the species to its environment over time and the capability of that adjustment would have existed within the species from the beginning.

I think gravity is just a lie the Jews made up. Electricity is the work of the devil.
