I just started field hockey and it's kickin my butt. I do scrimmages, sprints, and runs over the course of an hour to an hour and a half. I usually eat 400 calories before I go and then wait a couple hours to eat again. I think i'm totaling out to about 1500 give or take a few. Should I eat more or am I good?

Use the Daily Calorie Needs Calculator. Based on your age, sex and activity level, it will calculate how many calories you burn per day and give you a good idea of how much to eat.

Let your bathroom scale be your "guide". If you find your weight is creeping up there- cut back on what you eat AFTER your workouts. If your weight is slipping (& you don't have the "extra" to lose), eat alittle MORE after Practice or games. -Just REMEMBER to keep hydrated at ALL times, because water is THE thing that keeps everything in "Synch".
