I feel that as a Witch and a Pagan I lead a pretty moral life. I don't molest children, unless they are well beyond 21 and want to be molested. I have no problem with sharing my planet with other religions and I have a lot to contribute to my community. But I am judged by Christians based on their unenlighted modern view of modern Witches and Pagans. We don't do missionary work to add members to our religion because we believe that people who need our type of religion will come on their own. The God and Goddess that I worship don't condemn anyone and they are here only to encourage my spiritual growth.

Please don't cut and paste Biblical verses since I believe that if you value a book over someone's life then that book need shelving and a new book written.

I stand out in the open and accept whatever pot shot that you want to take.

Wassupmang, so you agree that George Bush is the anti-Christ and the demonic energy that he is spreading is dangerous!

I thank everyone for answering honestly and I don't blame all Christians, but I do ask that Christians help other Christians understand that we are not bad people!

James B, I wholeheartedly understand that this is a place for people to post whatever they feel. I have asked an honest question and I will read every honest answer. I don't think I am overstretching anything by asking this question. I'm just asking people to try looking beyond their personal thought and think what it is like to be austracized for being different.

I have no problem with religions such as yours being practiced. I actually encourage it among those that must practice some form of religion. But I'm still an atheist, which to me still makes your belief a little silly. Granted, it's much better than some of the alternatives, but it's silly none-the-less.

p.s. your religion endangers no one in any way, shape, or form. Christians would think the same thing if they were aware of the beliefs of the people whom they stole their religious authority from.

Christains believe there are two worlds that overlap, the spirit world, with angels and demons, and the world we see everyday. But the demons are tricksters, and will try to fool anyone they can into thinking that they are good enough to go to heaven, or that this other religion is a better fit for you. Other religions that operate on a level that "connects" to this spirit world are far more open to those influences. These would be religions like yours. As a Christian, I don't see how your religion "endangers" mine, but it sounds dangerous to me, seeing it through my own biases. And I think it should be more a mindset of being worried about those who believe differently and praying for them, while respecting their beliefs, which are important to everyone, rather than "that's evil, go away" mentality.

Good question! I, Wiccan, was once called the source of all evil by a man after discovery of my faith. I did nothing to threaten him except exist. So why would my existence be threatening? Unfortunately I cannot educate or express myself to those so closed minded. No matter what a kind, compassionate person I am, nothing will be accepted. What I can do is readjust my response to these people. Most of the time I smile and say, "I am sorry you feel that way." ...and be on my merry way. Strange that I can easily accept those people and agree that we will not agree...and be polite and considerate...and ok with myself...yet they are unable to do so. Are these people so fragile in their beliefs that they are unable to question and seek answers? ...accept differences? I ask you, those who think me evil, how is my existence threatening to you?

Light and blessings to you...all

Most religious fanatics feel threatened by other religious fanatics, which is an indication of the lack of faith, knowledge and consciousness spread thru out the organized religion ranks.
Don’t bother your self with narrow-minded people who sternly refuse to see past their eyebrows.
They’ve missed all the points concerning the true nature of God/Goddess, they insist on duality, patriarchy, arrogance, contemplation and intellect refusing to learn love and joy by accepting others as children of the same Father/ Mother.
If they could only see the world thru the eyes of the Ultimate Observer they could embrace freedom to think, feel and act without harming no one, as the only path to salvation away from all manmade rules and ridiculous religious convictions.

May God/Goddess shine upon you…

I think you're missing the point of this. This is a public religion forum. Yet some people get offended when people post their opinions and views. Why should you feel defensive.

In real life I'd be respectful of you and your beliefs. On Yahoo Religion forum I am free to say that I think Wicca is baloney. You have no reason to be offended by that since this forum is about posting questions and answers.

Lighten up.

They are afraid other Christians will consider Wicca and leave. From personally experience a good many Christians are so fragile in their own belief that they feel threatened by another view and therefore try their best to destroy that other view.

Blessing sister! I have the same problem as a practicing hoodooist/Voodooist. People just cannot tolerate others being leaders and following their own path. It's much easier to riducule what you don't understand than to try and learn something about it. It's not good enough to be a good person to those people, you have to think like them too or you are "bad".

I'm a Christian, and people who choose to adhere to religions and philosophies other than my own do not, in any way, threaten my own religious beliefs and practices. This includes Paganism of any variety. I have never once claimed otherwise.

The only danger to them is the fact that you are not practicing their religion. And they cant have that now, can they??

Seroiusly - the only danger posed by other religions is the CHOICE (free will, if you will) of peope to choose your religion or theirs. They dont want people to have a choice. They want the world to beleive as they do. Period. Kinda funny, considering they speak of free will all the time...yet want to prevent you from using yours....

well said my pagan sister.

actually i find most on here are very open and accepting. actually i find most in real life are very open and accepting. the problem is, the ones who aren't, either in here or in real life, are really really nasty and stick in our minds more than the passive ones, and they paint a very negative picture of their religion, so we end up generalizing
