God clearly allowed it as many catastrophes are allowed.
I wouldn't go so far as to say it was to test our faith.

Yes and No. Yes in the fact that God has a plan that noone else knows about and this could have been part of that plan.
No in the sense that humans have a "free will" to choose to do right and wrong. If I decide to walk up to the next person I see and kill them, that was my choice. Was it God's plan, maybe not. So my belief is that God "allowed" this to happen because he gave those bad people a free will to choose to do better things. God loves those bad people unconditionaly as to not take away there free will to choose bad things. If God would interfere with our free will, then we would never sin or do anything wrong because that is not what God wants. God wants to be in union with us. That is why he risked everything and sent His only Son down to down for our sins.

He allowed it from the perspective that he gave us free will. Man's utter need for power and destruction is what caused the events of 9/11. It is not a way to test our faith. Those Muslims that hate Western ideals -- and, ultimately, the US wanted us to suffer deeply and so they targeted what they knew would hurt us a lot. HOWEVER, not all Muslims hate us. If 10 Million of them formed an army against us, it is still representative of only 1% of the 1.3 billion population of Muslims.
God did not send us 9/11....but he did insist that we pray for our enemies.

God did allow 9/11 to happen. The answer that the Bible gives is that there is a time for everything. Those ppl would have died sooner or later, and God took them when He was ready.
It did indeed bring our country closer and that was great, but at the same time it is sad that it took ppl dieing for us to realize that we need to be close, and not hate each other.

It was not a test of America's faith but a test of faith for the 19 highjackers. And it looks like they really believed in what they were doing in the name of thier god. So I guess that their god allowed and the chirstian god allowed. Aren't these gods wonderfull they kill and mame innocent people for their pleasures and fun. So people go bowling on Friday nights but no the gods no they kill and kill and kill because really when you think about god/gods they are really just social darwinist's in that they believe in the survival of the fittest just like science says.
Of course however there is no god/gods so I guess these people were blinded by a false belief into doing something that their rational minds would have otherwised kept them from doing.
But, I can see how one can blame god for this tragedy. I mean if he was out there he could have called Falwell, Dobson, Hagee or any of the other mindless preachers he has in his PR staff.

Yes, I think God does allow things to happen sometimes, but we as humans are not on his level of thinking so we will never know the real reasons.

If God did it to make us stronger, She must be pretty mad that we're weaker with regard to terrorism than before. GW's got a lot of "splainin' to do."
Actually, God allows many things to happen because we have free will. "We" in this case means all people, even the hijackers or (if you're paranoid) the many conspirators. Bad things--and good things--happen in part because people choose to act and those actions have consequences. If God stopped every bad thing we did, we'd be like dogs with an invisible fence.

If there is a god, I doubt he's a puppeteer. He would want us to defend ourselves. It is America's fault.
60 years ago, a society that identified it's culture and people as being value-less by utilizing suicide bombers would receive an wake up call demonstrating the most retaliatory response that our arsenal possessed.
If America still was ready to defend itself that way, it would not be subject to attacks on civilians by those vile and putrid societies that are too weak and ignorant to attack military targets.
Of course if those rats were willing to participate in conventional warfare and avoid civilian collateral damage - that we be our preference as well. We would be happy to oblige and play by those rules!
