I read that only about 15% of Americans have actually gone to college and earned a degree. This means that 85% of Americans were too stupid to get into college or too stupid to finish college. Why does it not surprise me that the majority of Americans are too stupid to get into college or finish college while at the same time the majority of Americans believe in creationism? Maybe it's just a coincidence.

No...that means that 85% either can't go (your theory of 'too stupid') or are among the 65% of people who can't afford it. American College is a bank buster, completely funded by a person's family. Our economy is making it harder and harder for people to afford it, and College Loan companies are turning into sharks, scenting blood in the water.

I believe in the natural creation of the Earth and of the Universe, the abiogenesis of life, and the evolution of species into higher life forms, including mankind. You and I are on the same page on that one.

However... Your question shows an apalling amount of ignorance, bigotry, hatred and downright stupidity. Did you know that a very significant percentage of that 85% of Americans can't go to college not because they are "stupid" but because:

1. They have not gotten decent advice and counselling from their high school teachers & counselors, or other leaders in their communities.

2. Their parents may not be college educated and therefore not know how to guide them through the overwhelming processes of registering, finding scholarships, and applying for admission and student aid.

3. They may not have the money or resources demanded by colleges and universities to give them a decent higher education.

4. Their place in college might have been taken by a foreign student (some of the 9/11 hijackers attended US colleges) or by someone else granted admission in order to meet government mandated affirmative action goals.

The really stupid people in this world aren't those who can't go to college, or those who choose to believe in creation mythology rather than science. The really, really stupid people in this country are those who hate and are bigotted against any class of people, especially the less fortunate. I hope you yourself will wise up and grow up one day and join the good people of the world.

Churches are the (only) strongest proponents in creationism, and if someone feels good believing in a myth then most people will refute evidence to the contrary.

Most public schools teach evolution without the pseudoscience on the side, so most kids should have been exposed to the science of evolution before college.

Not going to college these days is not a sign of stupidity, though it can limit your prospects in the job market. Speaking from personal experience as a student, most colleges these days are dumbed down to kids who really are not interested in the material and who would prefer to party as opposed to learning for learning's sake. It's no wonder that most Americans do not believe in evolution and that belief in evolution tends to coincide with countries with a high level of religious believers. The private schools are doing somewhat better in terms of challenging academics, but most people cannot afford to attend one.

Most Americans don't take evolution seriously because they have been dissuaded by their religious institutions. They rely on friends, congregations, prayer groups, or (now) institutions like Answers in Genesis for an opinion about evolution, instead of thinking in an objective way. They may know some facts about science, but they have ignored the process: Evaluating a claim without regard to personal feelings, and looking at the evidence.

With so much misinformation from religious conservatives (including more recent attacks on heliocentric theory), it's a wonder that most Americans depend on science in their everyday lives!

You seriously need a reality check if you think that the only reason why people do not go on to earn college degrees is because they are "too stupid." Some people have families, some people are unable to afford it, the list goes on. Grow up and join the real world.

The scary part is that of that 15%, there are some that went to Bible colleges, like getting a degree in superstition. So no, I don't think it's a coincidence. Of course, I have a BA & an MA and most of a PhD from real colleges...

So I guess from your statement that your smart enough to say that 85% of Americans are dumber than you.If you are so smart I trust you could have thought of a better way other than insulting people.

Too stupid? Have you ever noticed that not every family can afford college? It is incredibly stupid to judge a group like this.

Your question is a bit illogical. Not everyone has gone to college and not everyone wants to go to college.

Beyond, although I believe that as education increases belief in fundamentalist principles decreases, there are plenty of ignorant college graduates.

I believe that creationism is delusional crap, and I have a degree (from an actual university, not a made up pseudo christian university).
