Born and raised in MI. You have been misled. Carp are terrible to eat. I have never know anyone that has eaten them. I do know people that use them as bear bait. Now walleye are delicious.

For fishing, a bow and arrow. To clean and eat. Deep fat fried, it dissolves all their fine bones, the meat is good but, not acceptable to Northerners. We're to used to Salmon and Walleye, Trout, the king of fish.

Never had carp, but i've heard balls of cheese or marshmallows work well as bait. I hear they are somewhat picky tho.
