It just seems like everytime I go to a religious question, there are always tons of people just bashing into anyone that believes anything. If I went to a gay section and bashed gays, I would get tons of thumbs down and maybe a couple thumbs up. Yet if you go to some question about the bible, they are there to insult you for thinking differently then them and then give each other highs fives for making fun of you. If you click on one of their profiles, they have like 1000's of answers all in the Religion section just bashing everyone. So is this the new way to go around and hate people just to fit in with the group? Is this what the cool kids are doing in school these days.

Oh and when they go to bed at night, do they pat themselves on the back for a job well done of making fun of and insulting anyone different then them?

Oh and go ahead and play your little "drinking" game guys. Cause that game is as fake as you.
1) your not really drinking
2) You hide behind a fake name

In all honesty, I think atheism is the continous rebellion against secularized, oppresive religions. Atheism is like heavy metal music along side glam rock, or gangster rap along side pop rock. An atheist always comes along, like Richard Dawkins and recruits thousands of followers, just like Metallica or Tupac recruited heavy metal and gangster rap followers, respectfully. But, sooner or later, heavy metal becomes its worst nightmare, glam rock, and gangster rap becomes its arch nemesis, pop rock, so eventually, yes, atheism too becomes a religion, no matter how many staunch come backs the atheists come up with.

My real concern, with atheism is this: Christianity hijacked the message of true believers and turned it into a circus act. If you look into the history of Christianity, they basically soiled everything right and true regarding Jesus and his religion. So on that note, atheists have something going for them. But, in thinking that the church has lied to them, they automatically assume that everything even remotely accredited to religion MUST be a lie. So there is no Truth, Divinity, Beauty, there is no Higher Nature, because obviously, this is religious, and religion is a lie.

The same thing goes with believers. If they think that science is wrong becuase it is not religion, then that too is a mistake. I believe that religion deals with morals, science deals with knowledge and understanding. They are two seperate sides of the same coin, should be viewed in that manner, but at the same time, you can't seperate one side of a coin from another, or hope to only reveal one of its side.

Atheism is just like Christianity in my opinion, a lost cause backed by people with a lot of heart. It's sad, but true.

Nope.

Atheism doesn't have the advantage of absolute moral authority that makes hating other people who are - in the absence of any divine agency to label them otherwise - ultimately, just like you, so easy.

You will find some people who have a distinct aversion to religion (especially organized) criticising it compulsively, but that sort of aversion goes beyond simple Atheism. And, of course, at times, there will be legitimate criticisms made of religions and the adherents of specific religions.

Did an atheist make fun of you? Is that why you're so abrasive? You poor poor baby. Let me get you a kleenex.

Grow up you big baby! Get a life! People like you are the reason why there are atheists who bash christians..... because all you do is whine and complain about being persecuted when christians like you have been the persecutors for centuries. You can dish it, but you can't take it. You poor poor thing.

You know they are really going to bash you for this one.
I have to laugh when they go on and on about how much more intelligent they are than Christians, and how "open minded" they are, the whole time blasting someone else for not thinking the way that they do. And then they call it "logic".
Actually, that is exactly what the "cool kids" are doing in school these days. In case you wondered about that, their "science" teachers are actually telling them, in our public schools, paid for with our tax dollars, that religion is nothing but ancient superstition, and that the human race has outgrown a need for a "sky daddy". It's that whole "separation of church and state", you know. A kid can't mention God in her valedictorian speech, but...
Go figure.
What is so sad is, they don't even really know what it is that they are "bashing.

If logic was hip and cool, there would be no Christians to mock.

"You hide behind a fake name"
So your birth certificate says "relax guy"?

I agree with you. Although there are many courteous atheists, there are also a lot of atheists coming to this section for the sole purpose of mocking other people. Their behaviour is close minded, rude, and ignorant. Many openly admit that they come here with the intention of abusing people.

Take Neo Frehly for example. His post - - immediately above mine - - would be considered asinine behavior in any social context. His response is abusive, and is devoid of any rational argument. He did not come here because he wanted to help others. Neo Frehly clearly came here because he has a low self esteem, and feels a compulsion to hurt others.

Let me debate your little "bullet-points" first.

1.) No duh weren't not really drinking. Most of us are at work and would get fired if we did.

2.) I don't see you using YOUR real name here.

And I personally don't insult anyone of ANY religion, mostly because I've spent a good deal of time studying religions and have a good deal of respect for each of them.

And yes, I'm drinking coffee right now.

Just because someone doesn't believe in something doesn't make them hateful.
