I went to a job interview today. It went okay. Not spectactular. Anyway, the lady I interviewed with said that her people work 50 to 60 hour weeks and that "you can't get rich with a 40 hour a week job". I didn't say so outloud, but I wondered if any of those people were married or in relationships or had kids. I love my man too much to take a job where I'm always at the office and I'd never get to see him. Maybe I'm not cut out to be rich.

I spent a year working 7 days a week, many 12 hour days and yes I made allot of money, but have no idea where that money went, and almost lost my family. Now I work 40-45 hours a week and myself wish I did not have to work that much :) And like Jay I carry a laptop so I can work at home, also a pager and a cell phone. They always find me when there is a problem.

We'll, I'm a firm believer you don't get rich by the number of hours you work. Some jobs pay by the "hour", while others are 'straight salary".

All I'm going to say is if you accept an hourly job, make sure your paid by the hour and your paid 'OT' (over-time). Typically 41-50 hrs is considered "time and a half", while 51-?? is considered "double time". Not sure what the rules are (if any), but this is what most "larger corporations" use as a pay scale.

In my job, I'm 'salary', and I'm expected to get the job done, regardless of hours worked. I've worked 40 hr weeks. I've worked slightly less than 40hr wks. I've also worked 55hr wks, but I do have the flexibility and (special privledge) to work at home at night/weekends (as I carry a laptop with me).

Again, you don't get rich based on hours you work. You get rich by being at the right place at the right time. Being ahead of the game (working smart). Experience plays a big role.

Look at Donald Trump. Do you think he makes all his money because he works a lot? I'm not saying he doesn't, but he knows his business and he "works smart" (he's very efficient). Like him or not --- he is very successful.

You can't get rich working 50 - 60 hours per week either. I took stock in what it would take for me to reach $1 million in savings. I found out that at my current salary, I'd have to work 153 years....from now. And I've already been working for more than 26 years! Extra hours makes no difference. So I finally found something that works and on my way toward six-figure residual income. You need a plan.

I'm due to work 40 hours a week next week at a new job. And that is alot for me and I'm sad about having to leave my dog. Anything over 40 hours would be considered overtime. I think 50 hours is a bit much. You wont have any time for yourself or your man. i think 50-60 hours is good for someone who is single and has all the time in the world.

50 to 60 hours a week is more common than you thought. unless you want to stay in jobs with no benefits and low pay.

I would have to agree that there are very few jobs (specifically entry level jobs) that have 40 hour work weeks that will get you rich.

I work 70-120 hrs/wk and still maintain a girlfriend. It requires commitment. 50-60 hrs is not a lot at all.
