I live in detroit, my first job is only part time what should I do

get a college degree ( at least a bachelors)
to obtain the better paying jobs

You didn't give your age or any qualifications/interest areas you have. Look at some of the insurance companies and see if they are hiring. If you don't like selling, they hire people to talk on the phone and take customers statements. Eventually, in many of these companies, you can work your way upward. I know my sister did, she started taking phone calls, and ended up obtaining a job where she was making the decisions as to if claims would be paid or not. She didn't have to travel, and was paid really well. Oh, she had no college degree or experience when she started. Just one option to look at.

don't take this as sarcasm: get a college education. Not to many corporations are taking people with only high school education.

for your part time job, try to make it full time or see if you can work overtime. See if your job has some type of financial aid or reimbursements for school while you are working.
