Ok if all of you think a mile isnt enough then what is? I'm not going to walk outside, just on my tredmill. My fiancee has a aunt who lost alot of weight from walking every day on her tredmill, so it is possible! Thats why people use them isnt it?

You need to get your heart rate elevated for an extended period of time in order to burn fat, which is not possible from walking a mile.

Hey there! congrats to you. I walk to every day and i myself am on a diet plan, I myself walk 3-6 miles a day, but i walk out side. I'm not sure what is a enough as far as walking, i think it should be what your comfortable with, although i've always heard at least 30 minutes a day is best. I hope that the info will help, but if not , Gongrads anyway on your effort!!

Keep doing a mile and if you start to feel like it's not enough or you aren't tired in 1 mile add another, and another. Setting your own goals and doing it your own way is the key to keeping it interesting. If you get bored, try setting your treadmill in front of a TV. Or use an Ipod or radio or whatever keeps you occupied.

You have to exersise for at least 15 mins to get you body to the point where its really burning calories. Walking a mile isn't going to do much for you. Try walking outside, in a park or something. If its still boring, find a friend who wants to drop a couple lbs too.

Thats good- you don't want to jump right into some hard work out because that is why so many people don't stick with hard cardio workouts and they quit. Walking a mile a day is great!

No not enough. Although some exercise is better than nothing. Try walking outside, u'll get a better calorie burn bc of the natural hills. It's not as boring. Also look into DVDS... belly dance, aerobic dance, walking, step, and so on...

i say forget both distance and time -- what i do is in the winter since i am still one of the few who watch the evening news -- i use that time to walk on the treadmill. it goes by quickly and does not seem so boring. helps me maintain my weight.

That's perfect. You would probably start losing a lot of weight every 5 weeks I would say.
