Hey guys, my family is taking in a foreign exchange student this year, is there any special way to make her feel welcome. I want to do something special for her cause her birthday is 5 days before she arrives. I want her to meet all my friends but she is getting her after school starts, so that plan is over, but how do i make her feel extra special since i have to spend the year with her and going to school with her?

it would be nice if you learned some of the thing about were she is from and what food they eat.. have some on hand if you can so she will feel welcome.. think in you mind how you would feel if you came to a new place what would make you feel welcome.. have some nice soap and shampoo already in the bathroom.. make sure to have some bubble bath stuff as well.. have a book about your town in her room so she can read about were she is and a map.. put a X on the street she is at. have some bottle water for her.. after she get here wait a week then have a party so your Friend can meet her.. put a book in her room of thing she will need to know like how the phone works.. what 911 is.. put the police and fire department.. put cell phone # of your mom and dad. put a list of names and pictures. like the dogs name and cats names as well as each person in the house.. if you have grandparents that live close by have there pictures and names in the book so she will not feel so bad knot know any one.. do one up of your Friends so when she meet them they will be faces and names she knows.. pictues of the school too

we hosted an exchange student from sweden last year. what we did was have a big sign with us at the airport that had her name, and then the swedish flag and the US flag. we also gave her some sunflower/kansas stuff (that's where i'm from) for memories, etc. but since you don't know her well yet, it's hard to get something that you'll know she likes.

Buy her some American clothes. I'm sure she'll apreciate that! Long time no see, sweetie.
