I am always amazed at some of the questions on here..Actually this is a good one. Most people go out to dinner after church...but the truth is,,,if you must support your family, it is not a sin to work on Sunday....
Jesus told us to not observe certain days as being holy above another. He didn't tell us to observe Easter or Christmas either....so one wonders where this all came from..Pagan rituals sneaking into the church, perhaps..
This verse below is Paul telling the church to let new jewish converts alone and let them observe the Holy days until they are more mature and can come to the knowledge that these days only pointed to Jesus...he fulfilled these when he came and no longer is it necessary to observe any day above another....
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it
Romans 14:5-6a
Paul however, did say that a day should be chosen for fellwoship and to collect tithes and charitilble gifts for the poor, so they could be distruibuted....it was not cosidered a Holy day,,,,not a command,,,,just a suggestion...so the early Christians chose Sunday....There is no New Testament requirement to observe the Sabbath day, nor an absolute requirement on what day or time you are to have church services.

Hey, little girl, the people who say that are the ones who don't go out to eat.
Do you have statistics showing the number of people who say that and who go out to eat?
I didn't think so.
Thanks.
Sunday is capitalized, by the way. It's a day of the week. Days of the week are capitalized.
You said that you were not a Christian. What are you?
What do you believe? Have you decided yet?
I am sure you have a crazy person in your family. There is some silly aunt or uncle or whatever. Do you want others to assume you are just like that person....just because?
You are doing the same thing when you lump all Christians together because several of them are nutty.
Have a nice day. School starts soon. Enjoy the rest of your break.

Sunday is the day that I do go to church. But then I should praise everyday that I have breath. So to say one day is more holy then the next for me doesn't fit.
As for Sunday being the Sabbath. That has been debated even among fellow Christians. And it speaks in the New Testament, that the Sabbath is for man, man isn't for the Sabbath. meaning it is a day of rest for me. Not a day that I have to follow to the tee or be damned.
And personally speaking I don't go out on Sunday. I generally will have an easy to fix meal, like in my crock pot. And then read the bible and spend time with family. Saturday is when I go out and have fun.
Now to address how people act as Christians in public, it offends me as well. And this is in general just not on Sunday. As I knew of a Christian waitress who was treated bad on Sunday just like you have mentioned, and she scolded them for their actions. Yes, even Christians work on Sunday.... Shocker huh? Get serious, what do you think the Pastor is doing when he is preaching?? They generally will have Monday off of work.

Sunday is no Holier than any other day, christians are to hold all days as the same. Every day is a day that God has made, and we should be glad in it. As far as work goes, sunday is as good a day as any to work. This is what Jesus taught.
I am sorry that you have been subjected to self - righteous christians. There are professing christians who would call sunday a holy day because of their church actitivies. These christians are big on entainment for christians. Something that the scriptures are not in agreement with. True christianity is sacrificial giving to the poor and needy,
visiting the sick and elderly, spreading the gospel of Christ in a none forceful way. Not tring to save every soul, christians can't save souls, only God is in the soul saving business. When a christian witnesses to some one, it must be someone whom God has brought to Jesus, If God has not brought them, no one else can. Don't bother them.
Please except my apology on behalf of all true christians,
God be with you,
Evangelist William M. Butler, St. Luke Ministries

Anybody can choose which days they work or do not. Didn't your country have freedom of religion? Of course it has.
That means that is perfectly ok. to some to have holiday at Sunday like Catholics, others at Saturday like Jews and even at friday like Muslims.
Well sunday is not holiday for everybody.
Even then that means that the gathering of the religion are made at that day, not neccessary that they do not work that they, unless the religion say that specificly.
Catholics as me get holiday of Sunday, because on a Sunday ressurrects our Messiah.

Good question. I do not go out to eat on Sunday, nor do I go shopping or play or boating, etc...
I cannot speak for others but I do my best to live up to what I believe in. The only exceptions would be if I were travelling home or if I were ill and needed medication or something like that. There are always exceptions as long as you do it with the right attitude in mind.

They could always work at Chick-fil-a. They aren't open on Sunday. Gotta love a company that puts their money where their mouth is. They could technically increase profits by 17%, but the founder chose to stand by his principles.
However, where in the Bible does it say you can't work on Sunday? The OT talks about the Sabbath (Saturday), but that was Old Covenant stuff which JC fulfilled. Even when the OC was still intact, JC himself said there were exceptions, but that's all moot now.

People are hypocrites, really. You'll find that that's how many religions are; they'll preach one thing and practice another.
Also, the day of the Sabbath varies between religions. Some have it on Sunday, others on Saturday, and a few on Friday. Ain't it great how you can just randomly change stuff in your religion?

Because then they would claim we are forcing our beliefs on them and hurting their profits. Sabbath is meant to be a day of relax and restoration, if a person can't do that on Sunday, they should find another day of the week to substitute as their sabbath. I work on Sundays from time to time, if it is really needed. The Sabbath is a gift, not an obligation. Jesus said "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath"

What day is the sabbath? I say it is Tuesday. Let's not work on Tuesdays. Oh rats, I've got a week to wait. OK, lets make the sabbath Thursday of this week. I'll loaf around all day tomorrow.
Actually, in ancient times if people worked on the sabbath they wouldn't go to church/temple/mosque/prayers/whatever, and the priests/whatever wouldn't get paid.
