No, I don't think so.
No TV, no licence needed

You need a TV licence for anything that has a TV tuner in it. Simple as that. That includes televisions. video recorders, DVB (freeview) boxes, DVB tuners that plug in a computer and TV cards in a computer. The TV detector things pick up the imtermediate signal from the tuner - also retailers selling these products have to report the sale to the licence police. I think they should sell off half the BBC and scrap the licence. And sack any presenter earning more than 50K a year like Wogan!

A TV licence is required for ANY device capable of receiving a BBC television broadcast.

If you have no television set and your PC cannot receive BBC (and you can prove it, if the detectors pay you a visit..), you don't need a licence.

hi,
No you don't need a licence unless you own a television and you use it. If you buy a television now from Curry's or comet or anywhere like that you will automatically receive a letter telling you to get a licence.
But unless you actually your television you don't need a licence and you can go on line an watch TV without a licence to.

if you do not own a tv then you do not need to pay. basically tv licences apply to receiving broadcasting from channels like bbc, so if you only have a monitor (without a tv tuner), then technically speaking it's impossible for you to watch these channels and therefore even more impossible lto charge you for this liberty.

so answer is no....

You don't need a TV licence if you don't have a TV. If you connect your PC to your aerial and get TV through that, you won't need a license.

nope. It's worth writing to them though when you get your letter asking why you don't.
