Luke 14:23 "And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and COMPEL them to come in, that my house may be filled."
If God says to do something then it is a commission...correct?
dfn of compel...to force, to drive, to abtain or bring about by force, to force to yield or submit, to gather or unite by force, to drive. sooooo.....how do we do that in a Christian way??

While the modern meaning of "compel" is "to force," the meaning of the Greek word used here (αναγκασον) is "to plead with; to earnestly prevail upon." So we are not told to force people to believe; we are told to earnestly plead with unbelievers to enter.

You quote an illiustration, an invented story, spoken for the purpose of a moral.
Christians can only COMPEL one person .....themselves.
A person can strongly exhort, but the final decision lies with the individual.
Force is not a christian trait.

Can you explain how one can "compel" another without using force or intimidation? Sorry...there is no Christian way of compelling unless force and intimidation are Christian values. Are they?

Do it the Johnny Depp way! Be compelling! He's compelling, right? So be sexy and witty and vastly entertaining. We'd prefer it to being bashed on the face with scripture.
To keep with your quoting thing, may I add "Where's all the rum gone?" I Pirates 2:15

"how do we do that in a Christian way??"
Let's see, historically we were forced with the Crusades, the Inquisition, Pogroms, the burning of heretics and witches, war, ...
Here at Yahweh! Answers we are compelled through censorship and account deletions.
And it is true, none of this has been enough to wipe out the 'scourge' of being non-christians. Whatever will you do with the contingent from India?
So I can see why you need yet another whip to beat us into loving your god.
Gotta love Jesus ... or else
