Christians force the word onto Atheists. Atheists try to make Christians question their faith. Why is it nessecery to force the Bible onto ppl that don't want to hear it?Why make ppl question what they believe?Everyone is going to believe what they want. Tell someone once & get it out don't shove it down someone's throat. It hurts to have some1 tell you what you believe is a lie. So why tell someone else that?If you don't want to hear it then why tell some1 that. There are going to be Atheists & Christians in the world forever. Can't we just all get along. Atheists aren't horrible people neither are Christians. I am a Christian. I have questioned my faith many of times. I didn't believe in Christ @ 1 time. I didn't call myself Atheists. I now believe in God. Does that make me a horrible person for once not believe?Am I going to hell for trying to make the world a better place for Atheists & Christians? No!!!!
Answer these questions with a heart-filled answer not a short stupid answer.

I'm not saying don't preach to people. I'm saying stop forcing people to believe something they don't want to.

I didn't say anything about Jesus accpeting people into heaven that don't believe. I said nothing of that. I know God doesn't accept none believer into heaven.

I know exactly what you mean. My belief is that the fastest way to turn someone from Christianity is to preach to them.
It is sometimes hard for a new believer to contain themselves when they are "born again". They just want to shout to the world about what Jesus has done for them and they will bombard you with scripture every which way. Been there, done that.
Sadly, most of the time they really don't know what they are talking about because of the fact that they're so new. Though most are well meaning, they get a little confused and even start to doubt what has happened because they allow the world to dictate the emotions that come with it. It is not until they have been 'seasoned' a little bit that they realize what a big step and commitment they have taken. Some back down and away because of this or they just get thoughts and feeling so mixed up with perceptions of the world that they end up in a defensive position rather than a righteously indignant one. Follow me?
Anyway, in my experiences with the Christian world that I knew, I learned a lot about the judgemental attitudes and indeed, the hypocrisy of religion. In my world, because of my sin, I was judged, condemned and left to die with no questions asked. The image of their own organization was more important to them than the image of Christ crucified for the salvation of my soul. Yet they continue to preach love and forgiveness and family and all the bull they can fill you with to make themselves look like the good christians they pretend to be. They do this because in their black hearts, they judge and they condemn and there are no second chances.
sorry so long winded and I could go on, but this is not such a cut and dry question. Can someone give me an Amen?

I am a Christian too and I agree with you. I respect the decisions that people have made and I choose not to force my religion on them. I think that if everyone had a genuine respect for other people's ideals and beliefs the world would be a better place. You are not a horrible person for believing that we should all get along and I believe that we need more people like you that understand the issue at hand. In the end I still believe that it comes down to a mutual respect of everyone's beliefs. If I respect someone else's beliefs enough to Not thrust my own beliefs upon them, then I expect the same in return. I live my life so that others can see God in me, but I do not thrust my own thoughts onto them

Idon't believe relgions or opinions cause suffering or wars. man causes these things using Religion as a pretext. The corruptions is in man himself. We refuse to tolerate anyone who is different, even those very close to us and don't tell me there isn't one just one who hasn't done so.
It's too much to expect different cultures to blend in overnight. Christians fought amongst themselves and were still fighting till s some time ago. now it's the turn of the Muslim again.
And this is my sore point i really can't accept the ideas of a culture and/or religion which encourages the treatment of women like cows. It is completely wrong and it would be wrong of anyone to condone it.
But change does come about - martin Luther King - Mother theresa brought about a revolution in a society so rigid it is alsmit imossible to understand. and this is Indian against Indian. we are not talking of different relgions or races here.
Change will come about -have faith in yourself and bring a little change in your life and in someone else's life. someone you may not have wanted to talk to perhaps. Try. A little difference in the great mix creates a ripple effect. Not a big political/religious change just a reaching out. That's what we all want in the long run someone to reaach out to.

I agree with you in principal, but have you EVER had a stranger come up to you and say: "Hi, I'm an Atheist?..."
I've never had such an experience, but several times I had a stranger come up to me and say: "I'm a Christian..." and start preaching.
Have you ever seen an Atheist preach on a street corner? Have you heard of Atheists going to foreign countries to "spread the word?"
Have you seen an Atheist's "church?" Have you seen Atheists organizing their events and booking a stadium for it? Have you seen Atheists on TV asking for money?
So, let's not compare the way these two groups "shoving it down somebody's throat."

Christians tend to think it is their duty to convert everyone no matter by what means. Atheists I think are trying to make Christians THINK about their choices and faith instead of following blindly not to necessarily change their mind but determine if they (the christians) actually believe it deep down or if its just because they were brainwashed into thinking/believing a certain way.

Some people have their set belief systems. People need to realize that. People also need to know what they believe and why. Everyone has their reasons but, of course, that doesn't ever make one or the other right or wrong.
I have friends who are atheist and I respect them. But we both share what we believe with one another. When we disagree, we don't argue it to death. We just state what we believe and move on.
Same with someone who practices Wicca. Agree to disagree and move on.
We (Christians and whomever else is out there) need to stop trying to make everyone just like us. Some are ready for a change and are looking. Others don't want to change and aren't seeking it. Those people need to be left alone.
We all need to learn our boundaries :)

There is a battle going on between traditionalists and modern thinking, since people are more read and allowed more time to do so today. Each type thinks it is doing the world a favor. Each type uses mythological proof to back up it's professions. And usually, on the average, each type allows some sort of discrimination based on it's premise that their type is more worthy of earthly riches than the other.
So you see, each type constantly searches for new converts to become more of a majority and back up the assertion that they are more meaningful to society and the reason for successes. And each side covets the holdings of the other apparently too. So we have a dilemna of spiritual dysfunction and I believe we can improve the human condition of this dilemna with more Forgive Affirmed Spirit.

Good question! I wish Christians WOULD leave me alone but unfortunately, they don't. That's a big reason why I ask questions here (I don't harrass, I am curious) of Christians because I'm trying to understand why they hound me so much. I honestly don't ask questions of other people of other religions because they don't bother me/harrass me.
Christianity is a dangerous religion (actually, all Abrahamic ones are) and by opening up dialogue, I'm trying to encourage people to use their brains and not follow blindly. I used to be a Christian but I now realize that many things in the bible are utterly impossible (Noah's ark, tower of babel, etc.) It's uncomprehensible for me to have faith in a religion that makes no logical sense and promotes closed-mindedness, homophobia and violence in the name of god.

I agree. As Christians, it is our job to spread the word about Christ. But, what good does it do us to sit and argue with someone who doesn't want to believe it? Christians think that they are doing a better job if they keep on and keep on at a person, but in reality, that's going to make them tune them out, and anyone else who starts to share the word with them. God gave man free will, and they don't have to listen to us. It will always be their decision, and we should let them make it, instead of trying to force them to. It just doesn't work that way.
As for Athiests, it's rude of you to tell us that the most important thing in our world is just a "fairy tale". You think we're silly for believing in such a thing, and we think you're crazy for not believing in something that will save you from the fiery depths of Hell, so I guess we're even.
