My fiance has a shell fish allergy and we are worried he wont be able to go into the ocean durring our honey moon in hawaii. Does any one know if this is safe?

I am not an expert, but I know someone with the allergy. It depends how bad his allergy is. My friend cannot even touch a shellfish, and when she goes in the ocean she gets rashes. But if his allergy isn't as bad, if he can touch shellfish then he can't have a problem swimming in the Hawaiian ocean. have a good trip.

He should be perfectly safe swimming in the ocean. His allergy to shellfish is in reality probably an allergy to iodine (which shellfish contain). This would be introduced into his system through eating the shellfish and no threat is posed by swimming in the water they swim in.

iam allergic to shellofish, the last 3-4 time si went to beach in Texas, I have broken out in rash, all over, where ever the water touched my skin, I took steroids, and that kinda helped, with Benadryl lotion, rash is awful, it lasted around 12 days, it didn't get me sick, it just drove me nuts, with the rash, it happens everytime I get in the beach water

hahahaha cute... YES you can swim in the ocean--just don't swallow any shell fish while in the water... oh and the likelihood of THAT happening is practically NIL.

He'll be fine. I wouldn't go rubbing against a crab, but I wouldn't recommend that for anyone! Have fun on your honeymoon!

Personally I would take some benedryl allergy medication before you go in the water. Have fun..Wish I could go to..
