What I mean by "dumb" is any question that you can easily figure out a plausible answer for yourself with just a few moment's thought.
That is not to say that I haven't heard some profound objections on occasion, but the skeptics on Y!A don't seem to put much thought into what they are saying.
Here are two examples:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiOYuj90ccytAQIRSAahqcLsy6IX?qid=20070725111118AAI7ROI&show=7#profile-info-315d08ffe32ebab370b799724d5f19a6aa

Since they are obviously not looking for real answers, what do they hope to accomplish, I wonder, by asking rhetorical questions that make it sound like all skeptics lack the ability to think?
Just bored?

To "Jedi Master", where in the Bible does it say that the children of Adam & Eve never had incest? There are a few famous stories of incest in Genesis, as atheists are found of pointint out. It is not until Moses came along until incest was forbidden. this is an example of what I mean by "dumb question". You don't know as much about the Bible as you seem to think.

To Bahmo, "What's wrong with the first question?"
The question was: " It says light is created on the first day where as the source of light 'The Sun' is created on the fourth day. How is this scientifically possible?"
Answer: Don't you have a lamp in your house? Ever seen stars? Obviously the existence of light has nothing to do with the existence of the sun. The existence of electromagnetic radiation (light) predates the existence of matter, according to scientists. Ever heard of the cosmic background radiation?

To "go_avs", I don't see how asking dumb questions "points out the hypocrisy of the Bible". That is a non sequitur.

To: "Where da gold at?", How can a stupid question point out "flaws" in MY belief system? A stupid question points out flaws in the asker's thinking process.

This is just my humble opinion but I think atheists have a conviction--and I think we all know what that conviction is.
If atheists truly believed there was no God, they would not spend so much time trying to find evidence against God and putting others down who do believe in Him.

Why do the religious think they can make people have faith by asking dumb questions like these?
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ak2Dxu22K7JBqT_yiEIKJShFLxV.?qid=20070725112159AAoivkw

I think we're both equal in the 'stupid, pointless questions' stakes, don't you?
And I don't really see anything wrong with the questions. The askers are just curious about discrepancies.

Same reason Christians can't stand to leave someone that believes something else alone. It's called religious conversion ,and in answer to it you can do what the rest of us do, either get into a religious debate or say to each his own and go on.

What do you hope to accomplish by threatening non-believers with hell fire and damnation?
You are no better than they. This question is just as idiotic as the ones you claim are "dumb", because all you needed to do was think about this for a moment to come up with your own answer....
So, does spouting Biblical scripture and oft-refuted arguments such as Pascal's Wager qualify as an "inability to think"?

Maybe its not so much asking questions about gods existence, but wondering about a thinking human believing in such crap as a god. By the way which God?the last time they counted 3869 gods in 180 nations around the world and everybody believes, his is the right one, even if he likes raping kids and sacrificing for jihad.

I don't think they are trying to make people lose their faith, I think they are just trying to get people to think. (in some instances to see if people can think for themselves.) Remember you won't know unless you ask, and there is no such thing as a stupid question. Or a "dumb" question for that matter.

Christian and Atheists try to make people lose their beliefs. Everyone tries to force stuff onto people that don't believe what they believe. I don't know how many times I've said this to people. Stop judging people. Stop forcing stuff on people. Say it once and get it out either they'll believe it or leave it. Can't make someone believe something they don't want to believe.

The atheists who engage in taunting and making asinine statements do so because their life is empty, for that matter,so are their heads. They fancy themselves intellectuals, when in fact, most are mental dwarfs. Why would anyone who doesn't believe in God come to this section of answers. It's idiotic.I feel many times they're trying to convince themselves.

those questions really arent as stupid as you made them out to be. and they certainly didnt seem like they were trying to "convert" people. just seemed like people asking a question because they were curious about something.
