Hey, I dont like using my oven, it takes too long and uses up energy especially just to bake 1 potato. But I love baked potatoes. Microwave oven potatoes are horrible, so I was wondering if it's safe just to cook 5 potatoes on Sunday, refrigerate them, and reheat them one by one in the microwave over the week. It would just make my life a lot better if this was possible. Plus, how long should I reheat them for so they retain their flavour and are warm enough?

You can keep the previously cooked potatoes in your fridge for up to a week. They will be really dry when you re-heat them though. I don't know of any way to get around that, aside from slathering them in butter and sour cream!

Safe enough to keep yes, jackets to go wet on the outside when they start to go off so just keep an eye on that - better if air can circulate around them - ie just put them on the fridge shelf not in a bowl. But beware they can pick up strong smells/flavours and if unwrapped will be a conduit for bacteria.

The thing is that if you bake them and then microwave them then you'll lose the lovely crisp skin and the fluffy middle that you love about oven baked potatoes so why bother? Its better and almost as quick to do it the other way around - microwave your potato and finish in the oven for twenty minutes.

That would probably be ok. but you can bake them and fix them other ways too. Like sliced and fried, diced and made into potato salad, grated and hash browned. And you can always eat them as baked potatoes. Also, if you worried about if they were good, you could cool the to room temp, then freeze them, lay them down in the fridge the morning of the day you are going to eat them, thaw in microwave add toppings and enjoy.
