With the way Nascar is "leveling the playing field" and with the new COT (Carp of Tomorrow), I don't see anyone dominating enough to win eight. By the way, both Richard Petty and Dale Sr have seven.

The 7 Time Championship record was done by Richard Petty, Dale Sr tied HIS record. As far as anybody else doing that, or breaking that record, i don't know. The only person to get close is Jeff Gordon and he has 4 Championships. I dunno if anyone will.

I can't really see anyone breaking the record held by Earnhardt and Petty...Gordon will end up with 5 (possibly 6). He has already said that he doesn't want to drive full-time after he turns 40, but I guess anything is possible. I guess the next closest would be Stewart, but I really can't see him winning 5 more championships.

It is not just Sr's record. Dale is tied with Richard Petty. I really do not see anyone breaking the record of 7. Cars are to equal now.

With the COT and other changes to the point system, I don't see Dale Earnhardt's record being challenged within the next ten years, if ever.

Competition is much stronger than it was in the past.
That being said, I belive Jeff Gordon is the only one with a shot to at least tie it. After that, it would have to take someone extraordinary good in order for 7 to be reached of passed

If they didn't change the rules Jeff Gordon would already have 5 championships and probably his 6th this year. Can't compare drivers that raced under old rules with drivers racing under new rules so that record doesn't mean much anymore.

No one will. Nascar made sure of that. Gordon had a chance before the rule changes. He'd be on his 6th.
