An amazing article.
It's perfectly sets out the story of a man who, by the end, couldn't lie to himself any more, and the people he met that continued to lie to themselves every day of their lives.
And I notice that other answerers just brushed it off and said it in no way applied to them. Interesting.

I don't blame him. My twelve-year-old friend was raped by a teacher at my Catholic school, and they payed her hush money after the trial (this was about eight years ago, still quite recent). Before, the school had ignored reports of this guy's inappropriate touching of female students.
It's not the reason that I am an atheist, but it showed me some of the horrible things that people cover up with religion and issues of faith.

Welcome
He lived the role of believer. He reported on what he found. It was a difficult decision. One of the most honest pieces I have seen in a long time.

I agree with this:
"Clearly, I saw now that belief in God, no matter how grounded, requires at some point a leap of faith. Either you have the gift of faith or you don't. It's not a choice. It can't be willed into existence."
and would like to add: "or out of existence."

Totally irrelevant to me as I'm not a Mormon, I'm not a Catholic, and I don't belong to a mega-church. That's like saying that all $1000 bills must be fake because all you've seen is Monopoly money and you can't find a bank that will take it.

That was a really good article. I think it shows what happens when you really look at what the people who are in power in those organizations do for themselves. They don't seem to really be there to help any body else. Its sad.

I know when you set out to do one thing it usually affects other areas of your life you weren't even thinking about when you started you trip.
Some of the sheep do wise up and say to themselves that "just because" and "its faith" isn't satisfying anymore for answers to their questions.
How about you?

His lose of faith doesn't prove God doesn't exist, don't cha know? I've seen and have had things happen in my life that would probably make your head spin but here I stand and my faith in God has actually grown stronger. Go figure.
