Before we can do any calculations, we need to make a few assumptions. Firstly, the alcohol content per beer; I'll choose Budweiser Ice with 5.5% by volume for its well-known ability "f^ck you up" as advertised right on the the can.

Next, assume the total blood volume in the average human is 5 litres.

Then, on the California Highway Patrol website there is a table listing "Progressive Effects of Blood Alcohol Level" where we find 0.4% listed as: "Zombie-like Death Threshold."

Therefore, if one beer contains 0.354 litres, at 5.5% there is 0.0195 litres of alcohol per bottle.

You'd need 0.4% of you total blood volume to be alcohol, so 0.4% of 5 liters is 0.02 litres.

Therefore, you can clearly see that you need to drink 40 Bud Ice beers at once to be in a Zombie-like state.

Wow. Is your coworker from Texas?

i have a friend from Texas that finishes 3 beers, a bottle of wine, and some shots without getting dizzy. Of course, it could be genetics.

I'm good for about 2 before i'm done. It's a little sad. lol

15!!!!!!! LOL! After 15 someone better carry my butt to bed!
In that case.....in Oklahoma you could down a 30 pack! Our alcohol content in our beer is only 3.2!
Anywho.....I'm thinking feeling like a total zombie after drinking on his lunch break isn't his problem. His problem could possibly be cured with a certain 12 step program and a sponsor! hee hee! Although, I must say....I want to come work with you guys too!

You coworker is an alcoholic. That much can and will kill him eventually. You should tell your employer about your coworkers drinking habits during lunch. His business could be in jeopardy depending on what you do for a living. Or worse, he could be jeopardizing someone else's life by his drunkenness.

I'd agree with 14 - 16 and then with a few shots I wouldn't remember much after that. If it was drinken in a short amount of time, not an all day watch the game kind of thing.

I can put away about a 12 pack with some shots, or a mixed drink added in the mix, then I need to go to bed. But seriously... where does your buddy work?

Considering the originator of the question claims to be an Esq (lawyer), I am not at all surprised that his coworkers are drinking during business hours...

In my university days, I could go through a 6-pack of good beer just to get warmed up and still drank more without getting zonked... but nowadays, I'm good with 1.

Every baseball game our rule in 1 per half inning. 17 or 18 normally, but we've gone to 28 in extra innings then they shut down the beer vendors because in was so late.
