I mean drool-dripping, raving bonkers.

I just experienced an unfortunate series of exchanges with someone whom I considered friendly.

And the more reasonable, patient and open I was the more this individual flipped out, literally.

Is it like an unstoppable chain reaction, once started it cannot be denied?

Or is it a response to rational, patient approaches that makes the individual in question feel even more panic, recognizing how their responses are not nearly as enlightened as the words they are receiving?

Why the rush to judge based on assumptions and misunderstandings and absolutely no effort to actually discuss them to determine whether they are reasonable or not?

The more I hang out here the more I realize there are more than a few who are not well-balanced.

Ok, so colour me naive, but I do tend to assume the best in an individual until they give me ample reason to think otherwise.

Actually, the individual in question is not, to my knowledge, a christian. But the answers that assume otherwise are educational too.

Well, enlightenment doesn't equal inhuman or above being human. That's where a lot of people find themselves disillusioned by clergymen(for example). Though I'm sure this also happens when we put anyone up on a pedestal. They put them on an "enlightened" pedestal above others and place very high expectations on them. Then, when the person fails to meet those expectations - we immediately think they were pretending to be something they weren't, when it fact it was our own expectations of them being above being human that were not met. Just some food for thought.

Most people have sensitive subjects that when addressed in way that offends them, can become enraged due to their passion about it. But, other than that, it sounds like your friend has a chemical imbalance maybe.
I had a nasty ranting post last Friday, I'd like to forget about. But, I was feeling depressed and needed an avenue to express my anger and frustration at the moment. (PMS) had a little to do with it too LOL. Maybe that's part of the problem?

Orion did it ever occur to you that perhaps some of the problems you have with other people is your fault?
Something tells me you were not an innocent bystander when this individual went bonkers on you.
Are you sure you don't get a rush when you hurt others?

I never said I was well balanced. I have ups and downs.

I am not enlightened. I am not particularly loving except to those I love.

I think I am pretty normal actually. I am a strong person because life has made me that way. I have a lot of love to give when the time is right.

you cannot restrict anyone to anything. and enlightenment does not mean no stranges feelings at all. sometimes things happen, that just drive you insane, there is no fault in this. but it would be a fault to remain in that hystery. the enlightend one is supposed to find his way out again.

Yo ... tests and trial come like this. when we think we got something licked for the twenty fourth time ... it comes up in a completely different shape, form and color and bites us where it hurts ...

Then we can come to realize what occured after we realize how embarrassed we are and how we really messed up - step back and analyze it all ... repent ... and go from there.

Occurs to the best of us ... even to worms like me.

Peace;

Just call them occasionally enlightened :-D
Sometimes we allow our ego get enlightened, not the true self.
I guess it would be better if they see it themselves, but it's always very hard to see the truth of oneself. We all... so good to see other's inconsistant of words & action, I don't understand why it's so hard to see it in myself, I'm not good either.

I believe their own time will come that they will see their own truth...and transform again!!! So, don't be upset ~

You are not naive, you have learnt over the years how to punch a person's button. Having done that, then you can sit back smugly and answer oh-so-matter-of fact-ly. I know it is amusing until someone pushes your button back.

So.... are you the REAL Orion, or the clone that's trying to sell the kid for sexual favors?

Sorry, but we have to ask these questions sometimes.

Ok, ok... I will assume you're NOT the clone until you give me ample reason to think otherwise.

Orion, no matter how rational, calm and patient we are, we are still attacking their deep seated fears, beliefs, and prejudices. This will always bring out the bonkers side of people.
